I've been trying to develop a clearer picture in my head as what it is that really distinguishes one 1911 builder from another. I expect that there may be others who ponder this question as well. As a means to this end, I am posing a challenge to the community: for each 1911 builder, describe what it is that makes that builder special in one sentence. Attributes may include noteworthy functional features, advanced technology options, aesthetics, build quality, customer service, price, availability, popularity, historical legacy, etc. Of course, you can also post pictures to clarify and support your argument. I think it would constructive to focus on the well established production and semi-custom builders: Colt, Springfield, RIA, Kimber, Dan Wesson, Les Baer, Ed Brown, Wilson Combat, Nighthawk Custom, Guncrafter Industries, STI. But, you're welcome to offer your insight into some of the more niche custom builders if you would like. The prize is the admiration of your peers and the dopamine hit you get from seeing your responses "liked."
