Think I’m gonna retire the 1911 and go back to a Ber92

I’ve been thinking about it lately. Mostly to get more capacity and rounds being carried. But also because it’s my second favorite platform. Got a Galco Combat Master forward cant leather OWB holster I’ll use.
I had Wilson work on one of my Berettas years ago. They shortened the barrel, did an action tune on it and also did a bunch of other work on it like new Trijicon night sights and refinish in gray AT.
In comparing it to my current EDC a NH Bull Commander it’s not really much bigger. The only thing is of course the slightly fatter grip. But I can still conceal it well. 18+1 is a bit better than 8+1. And with two extra mags I’ve now got 55 rounds on me instead of 25. And if I carry Federal 124gr HST+P loads they have 396FTLBS of energy compared to the 405FTLBS of energy standard 230gr HST has. So the two loads are ‘close’.
Here’s a few pics of the two together and one with the NH on top of the Beretta.

Time to get you a doublestack 1911! Best of both worlds. I recommend a STI/Staccato.

I like em both. Between 9 mm and 45, I wouldn’t want to get hit by either. With 55 rounds, you’d be ready for John Wick!

I’m a proponent of the 92. Logged a lot of years and rounds behind one. Great weapon system if you’ve put in the time and training on it specifically.

Glock in the same way but carries more benefits.

The Army moved us to a mag ban state so I retired the Glock for now and got reacquainted with the 1911. Didn't bring the Beretta with us.

I carried a Beretta Centurion for years and have a lot of rounds down range with a Beretta. This one Wilson worked on has a DA pull like butter. It runs really well.

Love my 92A1! It’s the iconic choice for a 9mm. These days with the mob, all that capacity might be needed.

    124gr HST for the win!

I'm just going to carry the TRS in the Sparks 55BN and the Custom Carry in a vintage Bianchi vertical shoulder holster, with the three extra eight round Tripps on the belt that's 42 rounds of 230gr goodness...

I'm with Descartian............Get a 2011 and be done with it. Why work to master a double/single action trigger system when it's not necessary. 2011 gives you all the benefits of your current 1911 and if you want it in 9mm, you get as many rounds as the Beretta.
I carried a Sig 220 while working but as soon as I retired went back to the 1911/2011 exclusively, for exactly the reasons stated above...........JMHO...YMMV.

    I love that Beretta.

I've looked at Beretta's for years now, sadly, i just can't deal with a grip that wide.

Really disliked the Beretta 92-type guns when I first experienced them in the military, but they have definitely grown on me over the years.

I want to add a Wilsonized Beretta to the inventory eventually, mostly for the nostalgia. Going to go for a decocker-only and a Vertec grip though.

see my previous post. I am just as comfortable with a Beretta in my hand as a 1911.

I had an Elite II when they first came out, damn fine pistol, great trigger (for a da/sa), accurate and fun to shoot. I've just spent too much time with 1911s/striker fired guns to go back to one. Too bad as I know a guy that's selling both the original Elite and a II that are in great shape though I feel his prices are too high and he's not moving on them.

The 92 is to me at least just one of those pistols every safe should have room for. I just prefer the Gen 5 Glock 19 for anything besides a 1911 when I like to have more rounds on hand.

El Perdido, you forgot a Stinger in a small of the back holster! :cool2::D

I’ve owned a few 92’s but never really cared for them, but in truth, I didn’t try very hard to like them.

I saw a Wilsonized 92 on a local classified site earlier today and kind of thought about trying one, but I most likely won’t. I don’t need another platform to distract me from my 1911 shooting.

I owned an Italian Beretta 92S that I got in a trade for a nice S&W revolver. I sold the Beretta for a $200 loss.

I have a few other Berettas. This one was a regular 92FS I sent to Wilson to be worked on. They turned it into a really nice shooter.
To my knowledge and to theirs at the time it is the only one they did extensive work on and test fired. Even has a Wilson test target. They included a Wilson bag and hat with it too!
Dont think you’ll ever see another Wilson test target for a Beretta.
