Been wanting one for a few years, started looking again and found three interesting choices.

    1. RIA PRO Match Ultra 6" at $915 The zenith of RIA 1911's, all handfitted looks great.

    2. Iver Johnson Eagle XL Ported for $743 Also looks good.

    3. Kimber Stainless Target (LS) for $941 It's a Kimber.

I know there are other choices out there, but for $1000 or less these are what I found.

    Comments/questions?

I have a a SA TRP 6", and love shooting it over other 1911's. But, it is not in your price range. I personally would go for the Kimber. Priced right, dependable, and has resale value over the other 2. That's my 2 bits.

I also found the Metro Arms Corp ~ MAC Bullseye 1911 _ .45 ACP for $920 at GunsInternational, The reviews were good too, and this one is with chrome finish.

Azmarlin The Kimber is in the lead.

If the Kimpie does not have the mechanical firing pin safety based off the old Colt Swartz one then it would be interesting.

I’d go Kimber too. I’ve owned 2 that were both good guns.

Cheaper than dirt gouged shooters during the Obama era. If you want the Rock Island which I have heard good things about their pistols, buy it at Buds. Same price and free shipping.

    It's a Series 70.

OSD I have a Kimber Pro CDP II as my carry gun.

The Kimber would be a no-brainer except I'm thinking I want a rail, a .45 LS would make a great house gun with night sights and a light/laser combo. Other than that it will be a range/target gun, maybe some club target shoots, anything without a fast draw required ;)

The RIA Pro Match Ultra's are built in their custom shop from handpicked hand fitted parts, and they have the rail along with a lifetime warranty. It's mighty tempting.

A little out of your price range but this 6” is available. Buy once cry once, then keep it for life.

I had a 6 inch Kimber 45acp and it was reliable and very accurate. I had a bullseye shooter shoot it at the range and he could not believe it was a factory built gun. I am old and shakey but he was not. The distance was only 20yards but is was just as accurate as my LB and his Custom built 1911.

Bud's is doing a price match, the Kimber LS is now $780, not $915. Found the RIA at GB for $882 with shipping.

Found it at GB for $816 (Southeastern Tactical's Buy Now $), Bud's got to $833 when I tried to price match with no shipping fee, so I ordered the RIA PMU .45 longslide, will post details when I receive it.

Guess I'll be the test idgit.

Congratulations! I look forward to your range report! I have read many positive reviews and few problems have been reported.
