On the second range session in April. There i was shooting away with Freedom Munitions 124gr ball in MecGar and Wilson 10 round mags. Sometime during all this excitement the brass bead front sight decided I've had enough, See Ya! Whipped out my flash light and looked all around the area, couldn't be found. Think its worth warranty repair? At this point I considered Bubba'n a front bead. I cobbled up a Wilson Fiber rod after looking at several house hold choices. Took it to the range again it worked fine.
At this point I have tinkered with a mushy thumb safety using a Colt that dropped in and no more mush, added VZ grips, polished the cerakote off the internals, and experimented with a Colt Dual Recoil Spring that didn't work. I call this "Piddle Work", a keep the hands busy thing. I like to learn things every day. I decided to contact Tisas just to see how their Customer Service handles it. I inquired if a new bead could be sent out. Oh, no Sir. You will have to send that in for the whole front sight to be replaced. I went through their process and received an RMA# and return ticket, No charge. The email communications stated the total turn around time would be 30 days.
I just received it from UPS this evening. They were 2 days early. How about that?
How many of you have a Tisas Test Target? It Ain't a Nighthawk or Wilson, But It'll do.
This is the list of work I gave them along with the work Order.
I don't know what batting average this would be called. I was surprised the barrel was replaced, Item #4 on the list. There is absolutely no movement on the barrel front or rear now. Item #5, appears they tuned the extractor. The front sight got replaced. The Thumb safety has no mention other than the request, Item #2. They made an ok call on the slide to frame fit. It is not terrible but has movement. Notice in the box in the above photo. I know longer have magazines. I'm heart broken....sniff. I had received a 9mm and a 45 ACP magazine. The request was simple to replace the 45 ACP magazine. 😂😂 One thing is clear. They threw away the hand written post-it I left in the case requesting a replacement. 🤣🤣 I'm going to call and request the magazines, hopefully without laughing out loud. Do you think I'll have to send it back in?
Recap - They fixed what needed to be fixed. The barrel replacement is a positive pleasant surprise. The turn around time of 30 days was spot on by their standard. Now a simple thing like the magazines...smh. I have learned about TIsas Customer Service. I'll give them a grade of B+. That can change though. You get to talk to Human beings on the phone and get timely communications via email. I haven't spent a penny on any type of repair. I'm on track with the Goal for this one. Now to the range to see how it shoots. Does this mean I have zero rounds down the pipe? HA!
EDIT: I got to give them an A- now. Further examination, They replaced the thumb safety and plunger tube spring. It only pops in the disengaged position, not mushy. I detailed stripped to see if anything else was touched. So far nothing else appears to have been.
