Has anybody purchased the new RMR. If so, what are your thoughts on it. Does it beat the SRO by a long shot?

have the RCR and I like it a lot but end of day it's just a dot.. a bigger clearer window than the RMR and rain proof so at the off chance it's raining inside my range< i'll probably still be able to acquire dot and poke holes in paper or ring iron, umg outside, under threatening skies.

i am interested in the RMR HD tho as I like the multiple dot options and the auto brightness.. for when it's not raining, inside my range and I want to put a ring around the dot, in varying light condions, without having to touch the (+/-) buttons. ;D

i thnk for where I live.. not Portland, Seattle or Central AM during the rainy season etc..between having an enclosed emitter or not and not having to use either during a downpour to defend myself.. I'd rather have the auto brightness and ring/ dot options but idk.. hopefully I'll never have to use it for anything but poking paper and ringing iron.

my real question is why didn't Trijicon offer a light sensor and dot/ ring options on both? and when will the enclosed emitter w ring/ dot be coming to market?

Second question, obviously is how long after they launch the new multi-feature enclosed dot, will they actually be available in the market, not dribbled out like.. well like they launched the HD and RCR?

For pure performance, definitely not. SRO window size is still significantly larger than the RMR HD. It's more of an improvement to the standard RMR if anything - top load battery, larger window size but fairly standard/comparable to something like a Holosun 507c (slightly bigger). But the same level of durability as the RMR, which is where the SRO falls a bit short just given its design

The key interesting feature for the RMR HD is the front facing light sensor for auto brightness, which is supposed to actually work in mixed lighting conditions (standing in dark room shooting into light or vice versa / flashlight in dark). I had an RMR HD for a bit, and it works, but in my experience isn't a full game changer either. I found auto brightness kept the dot visible but not ideal - too bloomed in bright settings and too dim in very dark settings for my preference (still visible though).

I returned my RMR HD since I bought it off Amazon and could get full refund. It's a good optic but not worth the $650 they're going for right now. Once it hits <$500 I think it would be more worth it

Just got one. I am big fan of rmr hd. It is hands down my preference over the rcr which I didn’t like at all. HD glass and dot clarity are superior, noticeable better than peer products. Has all the features, durability and design I prefer. Only con is the price but demand outpaces production.

I am a fan of mine. My RCR is not in yet, but I’m liking the HD a lot more than I initially expected, as I generally prefer enclosed over open emitter.

I find window size great, because I mostly shoot micro optics, and anything bigger than that feels more than adequate to me. The SRO is nice, but I really don’t find myself needing the upper 1/4 or so of the window, and the HD gives us the nice strong RMR shape that made them so popular in the first place.

The auto adjust is good, but I wouldn’t say it’s great. It tends to work excellently if being used in the dark in conjunction with a momentary WML, though there is a bit of hesitation before it adjusts. In other lighting, I have noticed it blooming a bit when a light source shines on the sensor directly.

I do think it’s the better optic for hard use.

and Battlehawk has offered $100 gift cards with purchase, so if you need something else from them, effective price of $269 for red and $299 for green is a lot of optic for a very small price. As I type this, I don't know why I keep buying more SRO's and RMR's. We are a group of brand whores sometimes (me among us of course)

That said, I have several holosuns and am very happy with them. In fact, the only optic I have that I don't love is the RMR. I was cleaning all of my optics yesterday and (once again) saw how ridiculously blue tinted the optic window is on the RMR. I was cleaning several holosuns and SRO and my 1 RMR and it stood out strongly. And...of course, because I'm sorta dense, I just bought another RMR today because they are $413 on sale. There's no explaining me sometimes. (I also dislike the need to take the optic off to replace the battery, but I trust the RMR to be the most reliable/durable on my carry guns and, well, it looks nice and compact, so there's that)

The SRO has proven to be less durable in testing. Even Trijicon states that it's not for duty-level use.
If it's just a range/competition gun, the SRO may be worth it for the greater field of view.

The RMR definitely has a narrower sight window, making recoil control more necessary(you want to keep the dot in the lens throughout the shot cycle). Really, it comes down to personal preference. I have both. If it will be your carry/defensive/duty use. RMR is the better, more rugged choice.

I personally have come to love the Holosun 507 Comp. I believe it directly competes with the HD. For $369 red and $399 green, I think it's packs a huge value with a massive window. I also love the ergos of the unit compared to some like the DPP.

I think you guys are confusing what the HD is. The auto adjust brightness has been redone and is what really sets it apart from the SRO in addition to durability. The OP isn't asking about just the SRO or basic RMR.

My JM Custom Kydex OWB 1 with optic cut definitely won't work. I can't tell how the QVO Secondary OWB attaches, but it appears to be 1.75". LAS only has one OWB holster and it is light bearing. The Tier 1 Spara looks decent, but it only comes with 1.75" loops and a sweat shield. The Raven Phantom is close, but it needs a bit of material to be removed. For leather, the Milt Sparks OM-1 will work.
