Does anyone have a carry pistol that they like so well that they bought a duplicate for backup? I am considering doing the same myself.

I’ve done several times and eventually end up selling the “back up”.

Liked the CW so much, bought the pricier P series one that just sits in the safe :)

Most of my 1911’s are set up basically the same regardless if they are Commander/Government or maker. Dawson fiber optic front and blacked out rear. Some have different grips, magwells, etc. But I’ll like to stick to the same sights.

All my carry guns are either Commander or 4” 1911’s so I have options there. I have considered getting a second EDC X9 so I can have one for a range gun with a high round count (@ about 5,000 in a year) and one to carry. I know what would happen if I tried to take my wife’s and it would not be good. Also considered getting an EDC9 so that the holsters would still be the same but yet another new gun.

B2E40D23-8A86-4243-AFA6-63F235221CF1.jpeg Kahr PM9 for Carry & MK9 for practice & range steel challenge practice shooting. Kahr polymer sucks had the frame rails swell from extended shooting using NYPD Speer Gold dot. Had Kahr replace the frame.

I’ve never considered it until now. I can rotate to a different gun if necessary. I compete with so many different guns, it’s easy to switch platforms.

However, I’ve been considering getting a second EDC X9. I like shooting it so much, it’s be nice to have another and not worry about round count or keeping it clean.

I think it is good to have a backup gun to your primary that are at least identical in form and function. They do not necessarily have to be the same caliber.

    Seems like good company.
