I've been Jonesing for a light weght Government model for sometime. Colt produced a LW Government model about eight to ten years ago. Although I'm a Colt fan boy, I couldn't get past the front cocking serations. I almost pulled the trigger a couple of times on Colts version, just because you don't see a lot of LW Government models. I'm pleased that I held off the temptation on the Colt version. Last week I picked up a Dan Wesson Vigil LW Government chambered in 45 ACP. I have plenty of LW Commander models, so I knew the Government model was right up my ally. And I definitely wanted one in God's caliber (45 ACP). There's just something about Big, Fat, Slow, bullets! I had a chance to get her to the range yesterday, and like my other Dan Wesson 1911s - no disappointments. Although I only got 150 rounds down range, she ate em' up. All were hand rolled 200 gr. SWCs. She ran like a scalded dog, not one hick-up. This one's a keeper, pictures to follow.
