Well it ain’t a 1911 but I have been looking for a pristine older 226 to add to my collection. Found this gem on gunbroker. Everything about it looks like it was made yesterday. Gun is as new. The box is perfect. Even the soft red foam in box lid and box itself are perfect. All paperwork with it including manual, warning card, test target and even the little hang tag are again as new. Both mags are correct and the older dovetail back ones. Spare mag is still in the original Sig bag as well. I probably paid a tad more for it than it’s worth but considering the condition, the serial number ends in my favorite number [IMG] and it is what I was looking for which was a railess 226 to me it’s worth it.
Not bad for being made in ‘89.

Have been looking at German 226s myself, I am a little afraid to ask what you paid........

I have that 226s twin, great pistols! My favorite full sized 9mm pistol.

Everything made today with the Sig name is complete garbage with a once great name on the slide.

As I said it’s probably a bit more than it’s worth. But then again how often do you find 30yr old Sigs that are still perfectly new with all things they came with?
I like guns without rails. Sig does make a ‘226 Classic Carry’ which is like this. Least expensive one I could find was $749. So I figured it’s worth the extra $350 for the vintage and condition. The folks on the Sig forum have pointed out it’s a ‘Herndon Sig’ which is the second place Sig moved to after Tyson’s Corner. Not super rare or collectible but a desirable model.

Nice. I have one that is the same year, not quite as pristine as yours. One corner of my box has a tear, and no test target or manual. Good find!

    Thanks for sharing pictures
