Not many gun loving folks here in CT. I know there are a couple on this site, but I doubt there are more than 10. so that makes this post kind of a long shot.....

anyway, if there actually is anybody from CT out there, what are your favorite shops & ranges in the state?

Favorite shop for me is NGX although I've found myself buying my pistols (especially 1911's) through guys like George at Gunslingers and Jerry Hammond. Much better prices on the high end stuff and no tax.

As for ranges, I have a buddy who is a member at Metacon and like shooting there. Wolfs is great for indoor, and Hoffmans range is fine only because it's 5 minutes from my house.
I've been to NGX, it's a nice shop, lots of long guns....I usually buy from hoffmans when they are having a sale. I also really like bethany firearms and picked up a shotgun from them recently.

I usually go to the bridgeport shooting range. Its an average range, nothing special, but it gets the job done. Greysons just opened a new range, I haven't heard anything about how it is though...

I've never been to Greyson's but I've heard good things. It's a little bit of a hike for me being up in Wethersfield. Jojo's in Southington is about as far as I go and that's only if I need some 1911 work done.

NGX has a decent selection and are good people. Hoffmans has the best pricing for most stuff but they are high on the semi custom 1911's. Good range though. I try to support local shops but at the end of the day I just find the service and price to be significantly better from Jerry or George along with the selection on the semi-custom stuff.

How is Bethany Firearms for 1911's? I know of the shop but never been there.

Is jojo's just a gunsmith place or is it a regular shop too? I've heard people speak highly of their work

Bethany is reeaaaallyyyy tiny. Really small shop. They have 2 cases with handguns and on the wall behind the counter they have roughly 2 dozen long guns. They move a lot of inventory surprisingly, so what they have on hand is always changing. They have your run of the mill 1911's, springfield, colt, kimber, etc. but they are willing to order anything you can think of. Chris runs the shop with his brother and they are both good guys. They also have a decent amount of ammo. I'd say their prices are comparable with hoffmans

Interesting, sounds like it might be worth a trip down.

Jojo's is a similar setup. They have a couple of cases filled with Glocks, M&P's, and a lot of production 1911's. They get the occasional semi custom on trade and usually sell those for good deals. But they really shine on their 1911 work. Everything from a trigger job to a full custom gun. They do great work and love to talk everything 1911. Certainly worth a stop if you are up this way for a Hoffmans trip.

Absolutely!!! While I don't know much about the shops or ranges in RI, it's certainly close enough that it counts!!
shops: Park City Tactical (co-located at Bridgeport range...great folks and they are a LE Dealer), Hoffman's, K-5. That's all i've used....Park City Tactical and Hoffman's are top 2...

ranges: Cos Cob Rifle & Revolver Club....private range/club in southern Fairfield county...and right down the road from me!

My father used to bring me there when I was a kid! I believe that's was the place that had the 20mm in the front window? Well atleast at one point they did?

I don't remember the 20MM but my Father and Grandfather worked for the owners Bill & Joan Nolan at that location for years. That gun shop is a large part of the reason I became interested in firearms and i took both my Hunters Safety Course and Concealed Carry class there.

For about the next 6 months until they declare bankruptcy.
I may be thinking of somewhere else but I have definitely been there with my dad I was really young tho then. I'm 31 now so will give you some kind of idea my father was a FFL then also and class 3 sot. That's where my interest in guns came from as well.
I'm new here , live in southern ct. Greyson guns is my shop of choice. Owner is very knowledgable
