Great Option, my only downside is the stupid internal lock.

Has a superb double action trigger. Love shooting it.

I haven’t had any issues shooting around 500 rounds yet though.

I put the TK Custom lock delete kit in my Carry Comp. It’s a bit pricey for what it is but eliminates any potential problems. I haven’t personally seen the reported lock up due to Hillary lock failure after shooting several new S&W revolvers, some extensively, but also not gonna ignore the possibility. Hardest part installing the kit is handling those small parts with my fat fingers. 🤣🤣🤣

“Svelte” is great for convenience but not so much for gunfighting. Revolvers are for magnums; otherwise just carry a semiauto in 9mm. The power of a good magnum gives me versatility in my targets: from steel at 50 and 100 yards to larger 4 legged predators. It has its place and I would certainly carry it for personal defense if that’s all I had (which I did when I had only two guns).

My next carry piece will be a 2021 Colt Anaconda 4”. It is even bigger than my 629 but that cylinder lets me shoot heavier loads. I think it is almost Ruger Redhawk sized. I have the 6” Anaconda and it’s awesome.

Who makes the grips on the 2 SW

C’mon, people - “Go Big or Go Home” as the saying goes LOL…

All kidding aside, I would never recommend what I’m about to describe to anyone. That said, a while back I found myself wanting to put the Barranti Leather slogan “Comfortable Peace of Mind” to the test with their Summer Classic IWB holster sized for one of my favorite S&Ws, a five-inch barreled Model 27-2.

With the qualifying caveat of “For me…,” this combination works ridiculously well. I can’t explain it other than the high-ride and forward cant of the holster makes it all possible. Obviously, the cant is adjustable on the Summer Classic, and I keep it as it arrived from the Barranti shop. I regularly wear this for 10-12 hours-plus at a pop. No issues sitting, standing, getting in and out of vehicles, etc. - all the usual suburban lifestyle stuff LOL…

As always, a good belt is required. I carry spare ammo typically in the form of speed-strips and 2x2x2 pouches.

Another member talked about high-capacity magazines. I’m not averse to that approach myself - I tend to bounce between a handful of N-frames and a brace of DA/SA SIGs for regular practice and carry.

I love N frames but cannot shoot them as well as my L or K frames in double action (which is what I shoot 95% of the time). I think it’s the difference in trigger reach.

I carry a S&W 340PD. The super light J frame scandium one. Ive carried it as a backup for probably 10-12 years. Reliable, pretty accurate as far as J frames go. I put smooth wood grips on it for personal reasons. It will do whatever I ask of it, but it’ll also beat me up. Qualification courses with full .357 will definitely remind you that you went to the range for a couple days.

I'm probably in the minority, but when it comes to snake guns I prefer the King Cobra to the Python at least for a carry pistol...
The King Cobra always seems overshadowed by it's bigger sibling but they are pretty capable...
A buddy of mine can hit 4" steel plates at 75 yards with his 3" fixed sight King Cobra...

Korth...

I also had a 586 L Comp 7 shot done by TK Customs that I like quit a bit and carry regularly.
Rather than sending my L-Comp in for work, I bought a few of the K/L/N frame revolver RDS mounts TKC carries. Mounted rock solid, and I have a 508T mounted on it very nicely. After tons of searching, I found a Speed Beez Comp-Tac holster that "should" have fit it. They neglect to mention that it won't fit any frame-affixed RDS mounts that protrude out the sides, which AFAIK means all of them. Nice waste of $100. If you have someone local who does custom kydex, you might just like that alternative. I've yet to shoot it, but I'm pretty confident it will both hold up and shoot well. The dot presents beautifully since I presighted it with a boresight.

My opinion, and mine only. YMMV. Thanks for coming in today. Have a nice day. Y'all come back now, y'hear?

.357 Magnum is wasted in anything less than a 4 inch barrel. Lots of noise and fire though.

I've got a Ruger GP1hunnert, Wiley Clapp. 3 inch barrel, Badger boot grips. Magnum recoil is noticeable, but not painful. .38 Special +P is child's play.

Got a 586 4 inch barrel, Pachmayer Grippers on it. Magnum loads are tolerable for extended sessions.

If'n you want a pocket rocket, get a J frame in .38 Special. Load up with Underwood Black Cherry.

Generally agree, BUT, Barnes TAC-XPD 125 grain gets 1200fps from a 2" barrel. Carried them in my L-Comp for years without any excessive fireballing. On the Underwood +Ps, I go with their Item 733, 158 grain LSWC.

same. Eli did the full monty, and man is it much better than any stock Smith. I then sent it to STS in Wichita for matte black PVD.

Love my model 65! I lucked into a model 13 and put it in layaway. I figure I need a pair of matching 3 inch k frames!
I haad a model 13, and a model 66 both with 3"barrels. Key word HAD! Needed money worse than the Smiths, looking back I totally regret selling either one. The 66 was the only 3"66 I've ever seen. Hindsight is always 20/20 dang it!
