What are your 1911 buying plans for 2018?

As I sit here, thinking about what would be reasonable acquisitions for 2018, I'm thinking the 1911s that might follow me home in 2018 will be:
    • Another Wiley Clapp Govt to use as a base for a traditional 2-tone build. (Hard chromed frame & controls - blued slide) (very likely)
    • A used Stainless Colt or SA 5" for another fun build. Might have Steve Morrison @ MARS do some golfball or similar texture on the front strap. (very likely)
    • A Combat Commander, used (maybe)
    • An older post WW2 Govt. Model - but pre Series 70. (maybe)
All of this might get thrown out the window if I stumbled across a WW1 Colt or a sweet Garand - who knows what will cross my path.

What are your plans for 2018?

Looking hard for a 2011 STI Costa VIP in 9mm. I probably will not wait until 2018.

    In order:

    1) More bullet heads in .45acp & .40 and more primers!
    2) a Browning High-Power in 9mm (or .40)
    3) a 5" government model in 9mm
    4) a G19 or STI VIP or STI Guardian double-stack
    5) a S&W PC 686 or 625

WC EDC X9, if I can convince the wife. OW, I'd be happy with a DW Guardian. Either would be my daily carry.

Depends on what hits which smith’s bench and makes its way home to me in 2018 ;-)

As for purchases, no real plans, such limited offerings here in the PRK

If a nice Baer, Ed Brown or Colt Gold Cup came along at a good price I’d be more than tempted.

    My plans are...
    WC EDC X9
BHP 9mm (Nighthawk if I can)
    Ruger GP100

A larger safe is a definite must.
    ^^^^^^(Might be before years end)

Then of course anything else that catches my eye but the above is on the must have list.

It's somber, but 2017 and 2018 will be a time when I have much more being sold than coming in. I'm basically selling everything off. I have a couple out there being built right now that will be my keepers due to their versatility, but I'm pretty well done with the platform. I never thought I'd say that, but it's the truth. I've been discretely selling guns off and will continue to as all I've got left are high end, full house customs that I preferred discretion in owning, and prefer discretion in selling as well.

2018 could bring a few nice ones...or not. Just sitting in a holding pattern and resisting any other tempatations out there.

Glock 17...not a 1911. I'm (im)patiently waiting for my sole 1911, an EB SF Carry II, to be delivered to my FFL today. At this point in my life I'd rather have one nice one that is at the limit of my affordability than to have a slew that I don't shoot, and am not happy with due to build quality and/or imperfections.

I told my wife my last purchase, a LB mono Commanche, would complete my bucket list, and I was done. But I'm tragically addicted. Have the LB, a Wilson, and feel the need to round out the trio with an Ed Brown. Somebody talk me out of this, I should spend the money on a new John Deere with a bucket loader and snow blower. Did I mention my wife is an enabler?

Ammo, ammo and more ammo. Making the most of the low prices.

Maybe a semiauto 22 pistol or a 30-06 left handed bolt action.

Get a goat for the lawn. It will probably be a warm winter, no need for a snow blower. But an Ed Brown, well.........

A Wilson EDC X9 for the wife and so far I’m looking at an EDC 9 Compact for myself. That will probably do it for the new gun budget for 2018.

Pretty much the same for me. A wait and see approach. If something interesting pops up, I would possibly do that.
