Recent talk made me realize there are certain brands I will never buy for no particular reason. It isn't necessarily based on anything concrete, but more or less a general feeling.

    Sig
    HK
FNH (did want FNP45 at one time)
    Walther
    Ruger
    Desert Eagle
    Para
    Taurus
    CZ (non Dan Wessons)

I'll add more as I think of them.

    What are your non-buys?

It varies model to model for me, some models were great designs and worked out well for companies, others did not. Sig P2XX series are great guns, their 1911 doesn't fancy my attention nearly as much though. Sometimes companies go through phases of poor quality control and you need to know if your pistol was made during that time. Walther (and Smith and Wesson included since they own Walther) and Ruger are examples of this. S&W went through a few years of manufacturing some terrible firearms. Then some new CEO or something stepped in and that is when the M&P came out (good gun) and they started making their 1911's which aren't terrible, but not my favorite 1911 out there.

I have no idea why you would add HK to that list though. I have had nothing but great experiences with the many different models I have handled and fired and owned over the years.

AJ I have no feelings for or against HK quality or performance. They just don't appeal to me enough to go out and buy one.

Sig - Owned a few in the past.
    Fusion
    Para
    Desert Eagle
    Nighthawk
    Colt
Kimber - Only because of the crappy Customer Service I received from them. All of the guns have been fine.
    Beretta
    Kahr
Wilson, unless I got a GOOD deal on one.

I would buy any of the above listed if I found them at a price I knew I could easily flip them to make a buck, but would never add them to the collection.

There are more models I wouldn't owned as opposed to the brand in general...

I got crappy service when i called Kimber

Nighthawk is overpriced and too Tacticool IMO.

I might even add Wilson on that won't buy list since the price increase.

    1911 brands I won't own:
    Wilson Combat
    Nighthawk
    Fusion
Or any other semi custom that costs over $2000.

My favorite 1911 brands are Dan Wesson and Les Baer.
I will only buy retro style Colts I.e. series 70 style or the modern repros which I am quite fond of.
What bothers me most about Kimber, is not the use of MIM parts, but the high esteem most people hold the brand to.

I didn't add the higher end brands because I can;t say one way or the other that I would never buy one. Wilson, NH, GI, Baer, Brown..all possibilities down the road only because they are 1911's. Not because of price. For some reason, I no longer look at $1500+ guns as too expensive. I gotta get out of that!

I, too, was skeptical about Kimbers until I bought mine for its intended use. Full size 10mm for nothing but range blastin. Same with the Glock 29 I bought. It was purchased to have a compact 10mm for carry. I have since switched over to a DW CCO in 45acp and soon will have a CCO in 10mm for that role. The Glock will then go on the market, if not sooner.

The only common brand that I will never buy again is Kimber. Decent weapons (those that I had) and at one time I was all Kimber, but their CS and "dennis" of the custom shop broke me from that. If everyone except Kimber stopped making 1911's I'd stop buying new pistols.. Most everything else I'm not really hot/cold about.. Ron

i swear I hope I end up with a Fusion that is what I ordered, shoots where I point it, looks like I asked for it to look, and gets here when it was quoted as being here. We shall know in less than 6 weeks (if it gets here by the back end of the quote).

As this was in the general discussion area, and guns were not specifically noted, I assumed it was a general discussion, and not gun specific. Obviously, I was in error, as you have pointed out that it was indeed, gun specific.
