To be fair, these were from yesterday:

Rock Island GI .45

Ruger SR1911 Commander size
SR1911 CDR by awp101, on Flickr

S&W Model 57

Ruger target, 50rds at 7yds. The low shots were the first ones. The rest were after I made my self slow down and focus
SR1911 CDR 7yds 230g 50rds by awp101, on Flickr

Model 57 target, 12 rds at 7yds. My first go 'round with the .41 Magnum and I can certainly see the attraction

Let's see who else has been burning powder recently!

Just got back from the range.
Had a couple assembled AR's to shoot with different range ammo.
I was shooting a 14.5" pin/weld AR and a 16".
Ammo was IMI m193, PMC X-Tac (m193), Wolf Gold and IMI 69 gr. Razor Core.
Conditions were perfect, but chilly. Rarely do we get a 3 mph wind day in Kansas.
Shot at 200 yds (our max). Head shots were 69 gr. Razor Core from the 14.5".
Not world class, however optics on both guns were 1-4 LPV's on 4X.
The Steiner cross hairs were not horribly coarse, the Accupoint has a green triangle.
The reticles subtended what looked to be 3" at 200 yds, so I was happy with the group.
The body shots were both guns, shooting the Wolf, IMI amd PMC m193 rapidly.
A good day at the range.

Went to the range early this AM. Not a soul there .

I had gone yesterday to dial in the bottom gun, but didn't have time to run many rds. through it.
This range is limited to 100 yds.- I have to run to the ranch (1.5 hr. out) to shoot at distance. The bottom gun was very recently assembled (this weekend, which was non-stop rain) and it will shoot.
The MRO equipped gun is a "100 yds. and in" stick, it shines at CQB scenarios- being light, it is very quick- target to target.

Overall a good day; everything functioned 100%, was reasonably to very accurate and met expectations I had when assembling them.

300 Blk build.

Dial in this AM.
BCM Upper and their 15" KMR-A.
ToolCraft Nitride BCG, Faxon barrel, mod 0 comp, inexpensive PA's 1-6 ACSS scope, Timnet 3# trigger, older RRA's lower.

Loaded Barnes 110 gr. Black Tip to 2410 FPS.
Shoots 1.1/4"- 1 3/8" at 100 yds.

It's good enough for intended purpose.

Dialed in an old 625 M.G. for deer season.
Opened cylinder throats to .4525" (they were way too tight from factory), Installed SDM F.O. FS, and did a double action trigger job (single action was fine).
Grips are reworked Herrett "Shooting Master's".
Finally ran out of the 265 gr. WFNGC's and worked up a load with old school 250 gr KTSWC's at 1100 FPS. Still a handful for a pencil barrel 4".
Shoots 2.5", 5 shot groups at 25 yds. offhand.

Took a young bud to range and dialed in his AR with new scope, furniture and trigger group I'd put on, as well as checked zero on my "house gun".

Fit a new (Kart) barrel to this 9mm Saturday and got to the range Sunday to dial in.
Barrel fit went well and new barrel shoots lights out. 1.5" group at 50 yds. (benched) with range ammo (Precision Delta 124 gr. JHP and 3.9 gr TG).
Happy camper.

Took a few of the “pups” to work on basics.
Everyone can shoot fast (or faster), with varying degrees of success.
Problem is, no one really likes to work on what they suck at; one shot draws, reloads, distance shots, tight shots-they just want to shoot fast- it’s fun.

We did a drill I use to install discipline as a shooter: a single USPSA target at 25 yds, 50 rds. Freestyle, no time limit.
Point of exercise is: shoot 50 “A’s”.
Refine the sight picture, trigger control.
Drop a shot, tape hits, start over.
Limit of 150 rds.
It is mentally- and physically demanding.

A couple can do it.

Used a recently rebarreled Colt 9mm for the exercise.

Dialed in a re-worked SPR. It's a LW build with a "skinny" barrel, Vltor upper, etc.
Never achieved the accuracy I expected of 3/4 to 1 MOA with IMI 77 gr. Razorcore with the gun.
Pulled muzzle device and checked barrel crown last week. Found the crown was not concentric to bore (barrel is 18" Ballistc Advantage). Re-crowned barrel.
Ran to the 100 yd. range this AM, it shoots well within that 3/4-1 MOA range now.
Looking forward to some "ranch time" where we can shoot 800+ yds.
The Ballistic data says this gun/ammo stays super sonic to 900 yds.+.
It should be a decent 600 yd. gun for IPSC size targets.

It's a 2.5-12.5 Trijicon salecid. The scope selection was given some thought.
It's a mil reticle, mil adjustment and is 30mm tube, 2nd focal plane. It is lightweight, considering what it is.
12.5X there is certainly enough magnification for it's intended range (6-700 yds.).
At 2.5X I can shoot both eyes open with fairly quick target acquisition.

The kitted SPR comes in at 8.5#.
That's a big deal to me, if I'm lugging it around all day.
I have other, ELR rifles that are far more capable/have better glass- but they are certainly "fixed position" guns- weighing nearly twice what this one does.

Would've preferred; exposed turrets and 1st/Front Focal Plane but there's nothing out there that appealed to me. Also a LIGHTWEIGHT 34 mm tube would be nice for the additional elevation capability, but that doesn't exist.
I am amazed at the number of companies which offer "Mil reticle/MOA adjustments". WTF?
I compare that to driving a car with a Kilometers Per Hour speedo and having MPH speed limit signs.
Can you figure it out? Sure.
Is it intuitive/fast to accomplish? Nope.

Dialed in one of the pups precision guns- Tikka 6.5 CM and did ladder test (100 yds.)
Load was 140 Hornady ELD-M and RL16, CCI BR2 primers.
Started at 41.5 gr. and worked up in 3/10 gr. increments.
The 41.5 load was accuracy champ, but everything shot under 3/4 MOA.
Will likely trade off a bit of accuracy for increase in velocity as this is a long range gun.
(Black/white grid squares are 3/4")

41.5 gr.

41.8 1nd 42.1 grs.

Dialed in new scope/mount on an AR 6.5 CM this AM.
It shoots the load I have worked up for Tikka and Howa bolt guns- so I can limit my reloading to that single powder charge.
Nice.

:) maybe not the Hubbel 605, but the whole set up is a BOAT ANCHOR fer sure.
A "fixed position" rifle, not a "still hunting" set up.

Prep for heading to the ranch next week with some buds.
Have everything together (I think...) for some ELR shooting; 1K- 1.5K yards.
The 6.5 CM bolt guns and (single) gas gun are dialed in, ammo loaded (same load for 3 guns, .3 gr. lighter charge of same powder for 2- major stroke of luck) and all shoot 3/4 MOA or better.

Range time this AM was verifying zero on one of the bolt guns- having installed a new muzzle device.
All's good.

I'd detail stripped and cleaned one of my "range guns" earlier in the week (I do this when oil and goo oozing from between slide/frame becomes an issue with spattering and obscuring my eye protection).
Never trust one fully 'til it's had a few rds. downrange.

Shot the .22 for sight picture/trigger control/fundamentals practice- and because I enjoy it.

Plugging desert clays earlier this afternoon with my 1982 Ruger Red Label 20 gauge running at a flat 100 F with a gentle breeze

Trade you 90 degrees and 20 sustained, gusting to 28 for your 100 and gentle breeze.

Ran to the ranch and set up steel to 800 yds.
Our layout results in shooting into a full value wind when out of the SW, which is nearly continual until Winter.
We were shooting ARs with 77 gr OTM.
The 600 targets (full size IPSC) were doable.
The 800 were hit and miss. :)

I’m now at 1300 rounds with the dot and a few thousand presentations. I’ve signed up for a Handgun Esentails with Sentinal Concepts so I started practicing at 25yrds. View attachment 179209 View attachment 179211
Nice set up.
Ability at 25/50 yds gives one an edge; separates the "men from the boys", or at least the M from B class. :)

Chilly this AM, no wind for a change.
Allergies are about a 9 on a 10 scale.

Shot the newish Stacatto P at 25 yds, freestyle. 60 rds.
3-C’s, 57-A’s.
Couldn’t pull it together. One of those mornings I guess.
