We went to the range today so Mrs. Collector could finally shoot her new .38 Sup (another thrd)
I took my Guardian .38 for comparison and I also took my Kimber Aegis Pro OI 9mm. I haven't shot in a while and almost forgot how well it shoots... (my one & only optic)

I shot my first acquired .45 from 11 years ago. Para Ord. P12-45 (Canadian made) to try out a couple of .45 light loads (recipe complements of @DukeSoprano )
I shot Mrs. C's "Groot & Pam" with lighter recoil spring to handle her light .38 sup. loads
and the newest build "Lefty" also .38 sup.

I took the newly fitted .38S barrel HellCat for its initial trial run... After a modified session of Yam/Vickers/WC extractor testing.. (R/H - L/H Limpies, No Mag....... lower left & upper torso) I ran a couple mags thru (center torso)...... Issue found: empty mags would not lock open the slide. My initial assessment is that I had too much recoil spring tension. I found that the 9mm spring wouldn't chamber the round and I didn't have 14 lbs-er handy. So, in went a 16.5 lbs
Spring has since been ordered and I will go from there.
I took the Sig 1911 .45 to test some of my reloaded 185 gr SWC lite-loads. Those were the head shots..... they felt great!!!!

All shots were taken at 10 yds standing.

Today I was fortunate enough to shoot with one the nicest folks you’ll ever meet.
None other than @DukeSoprano
invited me to his private club for several hours of blasting.
We slung like a thousand rounds at
steel plates with a bunch of fantastic guns.
Pardon the pun, but I for one had a blast...

I’d like to think my gracious host @DukeSoprano

I even was given the opportunity to shoot his Cabot, CZ TSO, and his Boland!

I took "The Impulse Buy" item to the range today... (to make a short story long) I didn't know why I bought this, until the other day.
I told Mrs. Collector that I had a Volkmann, NH & WC coming in the next two weeks. She asked me which one was for her..................... ummmmmm..... errrrrrr....... aaaaaaa.. I bought something really special for you!!!!!!! Hence the Glock impulse buy/trade...

Anyway.. I put all the SHE stuff on it for her. (Veridian green laser, the extended (bump) slide release & back plate to help her near 39 (70ish) year old fingers to rack slide.
So with a 5 min. laser adjust to sights on the hallway door knob. Off to the range we went.
When she started shooting she was hitting 3" to the side. I turned off the laser and used sights.... I was off to the side..... a closer look revealed what I think the problem was.. See rear sight pic.
A bit off center I would say.

BTW: She ain't buying the Glock = 3 quality guns deal............ I'll probably have to get her some fancy grips for one of her other shooters.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

We made a range run today to try two newbies. A Sig P365 & WC EDC X9L.
Mrs. Collector also brought the "Groot & Pam" .38 super, as it is always her "compare to" shooter.
She started with 2 mags of Groot and then onto the Sig....... :frown::frown: she was not impressed but thought it was suitable as a truck gun back-up. I admit it ate the ball ammo and my defense load reloads without issue... so in the truck it goes.
Then she took over the E9L............ Her comment "it shoots itself........ and keeps on shooting" Referencing the 18 rd. mags. I couldn't keep them filled up fast enough.... She told me to put that one in HER safe!!! :bang::bang::bang:

Took out the new NH Falcon for its first range run.

I started with the OLD trusty/crusty PA... one of several warm up lead huckers.
After being all over the place from 15 yds... I moved in to 8 yds so I could feel good about my shooting. (see torso pattern)

Switched to the "first-ever" new Falcon shoot .. started on upper right.. moved to head and finally to the upper left. All at 10 yds. No hiccups, burps or farts. thru 5 mags. run.

I took the Colt .38 sup. that I bought recently to the range today. Other than the 2 FTFs I had today it shot pretty well. Both failures were the 2nd round in different make mags. All ejections were about 5:00 and 4 ft. away all in a nice pile.
Once I figured out the sight picture it presents. I don't have any other guns with that rear sight. Probably going to stay that way. I must say there is a whole lot of space for me to try and place the front dot..... Sheeeeeesh.
Anyway.... 10 yds.
Mrs. Collector played with her Honu and the Shield I got for her car........ Now she better understands the reason I want nicer guns..... *Meh.... was her response to the Shield*

Just got back from a relatively short range trip. The purpose of today's run was to introduce the 1911 platform to a friend who recently got into shooting. He purchased one of my Glock 19's (gen 5) Took an intro. firearm safety class and has had several indoor range trips. He asked if he could go to the outdoor range we belonged to and give that a try. I thought, what better time than to let him feel what a real gun feels like. I chose two guns I acquired from super Addicts here on this forum. One is the SS WC CQB .38 superb I got from Kenny ( @Dwe ) The other was the DW 6" Bruin 10mm I was fortunate to get from Ray ( @swampgas )
After letting John throw some rounds in his glock I turned him loose with the WC.... and then onto the 10mm. His biggest surprise was how soft and stable they felt. He didn't realize that some added length and weight would tame the larger calibers down........ and improve his accuracy.

Now to clean these up and see what I have in the safe that I can sell him soon....... Everyone should have at least 1 ......... or 6 1911's
I might as well be the one to get him started.

I took Mrs. Collector to the range today as she wanted to try her newly-taken-away-from-me GI 9mm CCO. (long story) It wasn't the best day for the CCO. It's initial shooting since I bought it and we found an issue. Fortunately for us, David Vaughn at GI was able to get us back on tract. So Friday should be better.
Mrs. C. also took her long time friend, the .380 Sig.
In between try to solve the GI malfunctions I shot some rounds through the EB EVO-KC9. It ran great with its new design extractor and was fun for the Mrs. She's thinking it might be the one she takes to her first competition in a couple weeks. Its an ALL Female intro comp. for newbies.

anyway....... we made some holes in the paper.... nothing brilliant but we were outside in the cooler AZ. sunshine.

Return to the Range.

The last time out was the first time for Mrs. C's GI CCO. We experienced FTF issues. When I got home I ended up putting in the heavier RC spring. Today's range revisit proved to be excellent for that gun. Looks like it will be back in the bag when we venture there together. (Mrs. C & I... for clarification)
I also took the Sig for a trial run on some LSWC reloads to see how it fed. That proved equally successful.
The only issue I had came with the last mag. for each gun. I usually finish each gun run with a mag of left hand shooting. Since I injured the left rotator cuff last Weds. these guns each felt like 10 lb. weights hanging out at arms length. After 8-9 rounds it was SCREAMING OUCH!!!!
As you can see the 9mm torso shots & .45 upper target shots were all low & left.
That guys shoulder probably hurt just as much as mine after being hit so many times.:grin:

I went back for an early morning range session just to put some more rounds through these 3 recent builds. I'm still testing ammo types and hand loads as well as just some good ole "wear in" rounds. Today I also took some different mags. In fact, it was a Mec-Gar day for all.

I really feel good about my JEM Hawk .45
The other 2 were Mrs. C's .38 S... Bamboo & her Honu CCO 9mm (CCOs don't seem to fit my hand or eye. (torso shots) The .38 S Commander Bobtail waaaaaay mobeta. (headers)

I took 3 new arrivals to the range this morning. The sun hadn't yet risen above the mountains when I got set up to shoot. I had an early appointment so limited to a few rounds per gun I lit them off as soon as first shots are allowed.
I started with the DW SS Valor 9mm I got from @JM44 last week. With one last minute change before going out the door. I dropped in a DW .38 sup barrel from another Valor to see if it would run. I left the light RC spring in as I was going to use the light loads I make for Mrs. C's .38 sups. as This will be hers. Needless to say, I occasionally had some FTFs. I'm sure that a wee bit of extractor tuning will solve that issue.
I then loaded up a few rounds of 230 gr. factory ammo and some 200 gr. LSWC into the Les Baer UTC .45 that I got from @Dwe I really didn't care for the 2 Baers I had in the past. This one seems to appeal to me a little more. Maybe because its hard chrome and just looks better to me... ANYWAY... you can see that the my patterns are more like a very large shotgun load.
DW is body & LB to the head.

I then went to what I really wanted to try out. My new..... long awaited NH Classic also a .38 sup.
That gun is F**king amazing from the very first round. A long wait entirely worth it.
I had a few rds of light loads left and it ate them just fine. (head shots 2nd pic)

Great shooting and glad to hear they all did well! That classic is amazing
Next outing it will be in its natural 9mm form and I'm sure it will be spot on. The thing runs so smooth.
Made an early range run today to put some rounds through the #6 Build.
Ever since Mrs. C. eye surgery for a detach retina & cataract, which left her with a grey spot in her dominate eye. We have tried to find her sights that work best for her. This gun we put on a FO front with wide notch double white dot rear.
I don't know about other shooters here but today I discovered I am all over the place with a wide notch. She didn't go along, so we'll see what she does with it. If it doesn't go well, does anyone here have luck with a Mega-dot front. I'm thinking it would be both easier for her to pick up AND help fill the gap.

I ran her .38 sup-lites and factory loads through it today.
