I hit the indoor range today. I was going once a week, now once or twice a month, ammo related of course. I do have a @ 5 thousand rounds mostly .45 but better safe than sorry. Friday at 2:30 pm. 31 lanes and I was the only one there, I guess everyone is sitting tight on their ammo more and more. No ammo for sale, they are saving what they have to sell for ccw classes. Anyway I shot 200 rds of Speer 230 between my Wilson and ACW Brimstone, 3rd time out with the ACW since new. Had a good time and both shot well, zero hiccups. I would have had my best score for 8 rounds at 25ft with the WC if it wasn't for one flyer just out of the circle.

Today I shot pain in the ass rooster that was beating on the hens. Took him out with the .45ACP Vaquero using Federal Classic 230 HiShok JHPs. Excellent rooster.medicine.

Took the new Experior, X9S and a old scratched up Colt to the range the other day. The Colt hadn’t been out of the safe in a year or so, it sure shoots great and makes me smile. The Experior has 700 rounds through it now with no issues. I really like the Experior and can see it being carried quite a bit. The X9S continues to be a love hate thing, it carries well, shoots well but lacks something.

The AR is my range only gun. HD one stated home this time. Anderson Mil Spec Lower, Aero upper with BCA 223 wylde SS 16 inch barrel. I am about at the 500 round mark. Initially thought I might have to go to a gun smith or send this one back to the vendor for feed ramp issues. Frequent failure to feed while hitting bolt release or using charging handle to chamber a round, and also sometimes when firing.

It has gotten better gradually though. I guess something that was rough has started to wear smooth. I was able to consistently chamber today across old and new magazines and different brands using both charging handle and bolt catch without an FTF and only had a few malfunctions while shooting. Probably gonna take it out a couple more times and see how it behaves.

Unfortunately I left the Colt Mark IV 9mm on the counter in its pistol case after looking forward to taking it out all week. So I sighted in the new Cheapie amazon optic on the rifle, which did surprisingly well, then ran a few vest check drills and then called it a day after 120 rounds through the rifle.

On the bright side I guess I can say I saved my 9mm ammo for another day.

Took my Springer Trophy Match .45acp that I just finished up (dehorned, beveled slide, new BTGS, white ball front sight, S&A magwell, trigger job (4#'s), parkerized finish).

Had to sight her in since re-installing the sights, after parkerizing the gun. Used factory Sellior & Bellot 230gr off a rest at 10 yards....pic below.

Then ran a target out to 12 yards and ran some controlled pairs (double-taps) from the low ready (no drawing from holster in our range...grrrr...). Overall, VERY pleased with this gat...accurate and comfortable...trigger needs a wee bit of tweaking (has like NO pre-travel...and I like a tad bit).

Requisite pics....
