And of course the orange finger of death!!! ;)
Orange Finger of Death or the Fickle Finger of Fate?

COP derringer. Absolutely the worst trigger pull imaginable, but fun to shoot and built like a tank.
I worked in a pawn shop in the mid-90s. We had one in the case that I wanted in the worst way but never could save up enough for before it sold...

Is that grip tape on your dot mount?

OK, 35 degrees, with wind chill it had to be in the high 20s. Pond was still iced over. But since I was there, decided to try my ROC with gloves on. At my age, keeping hands warm is a major problem (especially since I'm a California whoosie). I've done it with my 1911A1NM, so needed to know about the ROC.

Things I learned at 15 yards and 50 rounds single shots coming out of holster. Manual safety has to be done with my weak thumb coming into battery. Bundled up, I was slower and paying attention to weak hand over strong hand tension is something I really need to pay attention to. Reloads are a bit clumsier. Since the weather isn't going to improve anytime soon, I'll get some practice in since I carry the ROC more these days. Low round was first shot, high round was last shot. I really was happy to get back in the car with the heater going!

So you understand, the way I came up over the years, we have to know about these things, I am not a mascocist normally :)

PS, I was more accurate weak handed today.

Practiced double taps with third round head shots, with my S&W 3913. Shoots nice but the upward motion safety is a problem. I am pulling out of rotation, in favor of my Ruger LC9s. The Ruger is smaller but shoots like a bigger pistol, and has the same safety motion as a 1911.
Also was shooting an M&P sport II. I put a new Rise trigger in it. At 300 yards scoped, I am really liking it.

Double tap with the third round to the head is called the Mozambique. Get some IPSC item or IDPA targets to use for this.

Went to the indoor range today for a quick (2 hours) range session since it felt like I haven't been shooting since last year...

Tried out a new to me Colt XSE. Felt good but I need a shorter trigger. I couldn't figure out why it just felt "off" until I picked up a TRP and the light bulb went on.

Speaking of TRPs, the second session with the full rail version went MUCH better than the first. All indications are it was underlubed. Instead of feeling sluggish and having to fight it in recoil, it ran like a top and tracked at least as well as the non-rail version when I shot them back to back. It even ate 50 rounds of Winchester aluminum case fed from a CMC 10 round mag with no issues. I think I want one more range session with it then I'll pick up a TLR-1 (unless I get a screaming deal on an X300U) and it might become the night stand pistol.

Not pictured is the P-07. I did 2 mags worth of decock then 1 shot from low ready at 10 yards in preparation of carrying it in the near future. After that I put the .22 kit on it and did the same.

Started and finished the session with the MKIV 22/45 Lite. Now that my 1911 lust is (mostly) satisfied the .22s are looking for more attention and siblings. The second picture is the 4 aces target I finished up with at 10 yards.

I watched a few Brian Zins vids before hitting the range and thought I'd make an effort at using a bullseye stance to see if it's something I might enjoy. My 5 rounds at 7 yards did stay on the 8.5x11 sheet of paper but that's about all I can say for them. 25 or 50 yards feels impossible right now but I didn't hate it and I think it's something I want to look into more.

12 eight rnd mags thru the ACW CC and 11 mags thru the P225A-1. All flawless. Only problem was the SUPER HOT BRASS that bounced off the partition and somehow wedged itself behind my safety glasses. It was shockingly painful. I will ALWAYS wear a ball cap from now on. I don’t think anyone heard me scream the curse words that came out of my mouth.
