Ruger target, 50rds at 7yds. The low shots were the first ones. The rest were after I made my self slow down and focus
SR1911 CDR 7yds 230g 50rds by awp101, on Flickr

Model 57 target, 12 rds at 7yds. My first go 'round with the .41 Magnum and I can certainly see the attraction

Let's see who else has been burning powder recently!

The 22lb recoil spring made only a marginal difference in the harshness of the ejected brass. Still throwin' it high and about 12'-15'.

This is a new to me Valor 10 mm. Has all black low sights that I'm not used to. If I keep them I will adjust them as I don't think the original owner ever shot it. If I can't figure them out I'll put the Heinie Straight 8's that I am used to.

Just got back from a relatively short range trip. The purpose of today's run was to introduce the 1911 platform to a friend who recently got into shooting. He purchased one of my Glock 19's (gen 5) Took an intro. firearm safety class and has had several indoor range trips. He asked if he could go to the outdoor range we belonged to and give that a try. I thought, what better time than to let him feel what a real gun feels like. I chose two guns I acquired from super Addicts here on this forum. One is the SS WC CQB .38 superb I got from Kenny ( @Dwe ) The other was the DW 6" Bruin 10mm I was fortunate to get from Ray ( @swampgas )
After letting John throw some rounds in his glock I turned him loose with the WC.... and then onto the 10mm. His biggest surprise was how soft and stable they felt. He didn't realize that some added length and weight would tame the larger calibers down........ and improve his accuracy.

Now to clean these up and see what I have in the safe that I can sell him soon....... Everyone should have at least 1 ......... or 6 1911's
I might as well be the one to get him started.

Then. In a moment of clarity he remembers why he let it go!:)
And all is well again.

First time out with the RDS mounted on the newly cut slide. Battlewerx did the machining. Outstanding workmanship, fits perfectly. Whoever they have do the nitride did an awesome job also. Totally different sight picture to get used to.

Whiten.... no sights on your Gen5?

I am setting up a Gen4 G19 with a 507c and gonna keep the plastic factory sights on mine for now. I dont like a busy optic on a pistol and the factory sights top are near the edge of the optic. I am waiting on screws from L&M Precision since they are different threads than what is supplied with the unit.

I too need to undercut the front strap. I want this undercut (only) but I dont know of a company that will just do the undercut and possibly remove finger grooves. I like the factory texture. I could probably do it, but it wont look like that. HA
