What gun oil do you use? Why?

SLIP 2000 EWL. I've been using it since 2003-ish. It works for all my weapon systems and is bio-based. Meaning if you have kids you don't have to worry about contaminating their clothes etc. or accidently getting some on your post shooting tacos. I've used it in different deployments and environments, except for artic sub freezing crap.

I won a Weaponshield pack that had oil, grease, and solvent in it. I liked it when I started using it

This oil is odorless which makes it ideal for use on hunting firearms. Prevents jamming and overheating, resists evaporation and penetrates rust freeing stuck parts and actions. Polymeric film protects from rust, wear and moisture and makes copper, lead and wad fouling much easier to clean.

In early 2004 Ohio got CCW, prior to that carried a 1911 whenever I deemed a firearm necessary lol, so when it became legal I had some work done and parts added to my liking. Proceeded to run 2k thru the Springer over the next two weeks. Used FP-10 for the testing and after, everything was wet where the FP-10 was applied, will be using for lube for the rest of my days.

Lucas Oil and Grease, Ballistol, Wilson Ultima-Lube, Brian Enos's Slide-Glide, Frog Lube, Gibbs, Tetra...what ever my hand happens to pull out of the drawer first. Usually put grease on the rails and oil everywhere else. I was told NEVER use anything containing PTFE in the bore.

I have not seen any difference in performance between ANY of the above products, but I dont run my guns like some here do.

I’ve ran many of the popular brands. I’ve never had any lube issues, Lucan, Wilson FP10, Tetra, Slip 2000 EwL, GunButter, Valvoline, Amsoil, Royal Purple,…….

FP-10, because everything else damages your gun, and everyone who uses anything else is incorrect.

Wilson on handgun most moving parts. Butch’s Gun Oil on everything else. Butch’s goes on nice. It has never let me down protecting muzzleloader bores. Anything that is basically odorless.

Lately ALG, but prior to that redline 40w synthetic. Kinda impressed by ALG. Super slick, stays put, and cleans easily.

You sound like me. I have several different brands I use too. Heck, back in the day I used WD40 most of the time. And since I started on the Keto diet a few years ago I have a nice tin bacon greese container, I wouldn't mind using some on my guns. Would probably be great on my deer rifles.

For my "looser" guns - P320, P365, M&P9 - I use Lucas Extreme Duty gun oil, and Gun Grease when I know I am going to put a lot of rounds down the pipe in a short amount of time. The grease stays in place better when things get hot after 100 rounds in a matter of minutes practicing on steel. Tight Wilsons and CZs live on Wilson's Lite. A light film of grease goes on barrels at wear points. The Lucas grease stays put.

I primarily use Gibbs since thats what NHC recommended
