Well it's becoming a constant thought of mine - Need to leave NY ... But where to go ?

It's hard because have adult kids in the tri state area , but I need to move !

Retirement age , taxes & cost of living are of concern. Can not stay in a Liberal environment any longer

Looked at several options , non of which are that appealing -
Florida good tax set up & good gun laws. But mother nature tends to slap that state around too often - After Hurricane Sandy here on LI NY - I said " No Mas" stay away from coast .

Georgia & N.C. are candidates due to moderate climates but they look to be blue states - no bueno !

Up here in NE - VT /NH & Maine seem much better than NY But still potentially Blue states .

Out west there's Arizona , NM , Nevada , . I'd love to go to Idaho or Montana but the weather is harsher than New England

It'd be good to stay in closer proximity to NY - See kids & grand kids but no clear answers
Curious to those that are Happy where they are & Why ?

I'm in the same boat. And I have to get out soon before I lose it. I think TX or AZ might fit my bill. I hate Commies and Libs. On another note I saw a billboard outside the pistol range advertising "Leave the coast come to the most OAKLAHOMA".

Tennessee is a big hot spot now along with West Virginia and I find small towns in Eastern KY very appealing

NC is kinda purple. Lol. I remember how it was here many years ago. Peaceful and friendly. It's still pretty good, but many lefties have moved down from the north. It's certainly changed from the slower pace of life it once was.
I spent much of my childhood growing up on my Grandpa's farm. I loved those times and thought they would last forever. It's still a good place to live. Not every yankee is a lib. One guy I know from NY is about a bigger redneck than I am! I was born here, always lived here. I hope to move to the western part of the state at some point. I love the mountains. Not in or around Asheville though. It's ate up with those dumA$$ tree huggin libs.

You are correct about GA and NC, definitely trending more liberal than they had been in past. Couple years ago we retired from California to South Carolina and it's been even better than we expected in every way. Several regulars at my gun club have relocated from NYC and upstate NY so you'll find plenty of like-minded people.

Western NC is stunning. We live just across the state line in the upstate of SC. Zip up to Asheville for the Biltmore, breweries, and waterfall hikes but it is a lot like Boise, Portland, etc with its quirkly hippie vibe and recent unanimous city council vote to provide reparations.

The entire east coast is trending left because of everyone leaving ny, nj and moving to those states. And then they vote for the same liberal crap that they just left which changes the red state blue!!
With all due respect, stay in ny and fix your problems there

Plenty of places to live other than New York but Kentucky is not one of them. Harsh climate, gun laws are worse than New York, crime is horrible, no work, liberals everywhere, they hate Yankees here and just not a good place to live.

Yeah, I think I saw two Trump sign out of hundreds when I was there last week.
And if anyone here likes craft beer, Asheville is the place to go. Pisque Blond is maybe the best beer I've ever drank.

I moved my business out of Manhattan to Long Island [ where I live ] about 8 years ago . Was pretty happy and able to deal with the Libs , rainbow coalition & others .

Well that has all changed in the last year . Now I feel like a grumpy old man that can't & won't suffer fools period!

We all see the Damage done by our liberal schools - the crap being fed to our kids over the last 20-30 years is criminal .
Rewrite history & tear down statues , burn police precincts and Cancel our Culture. When I see " protesters " screaming & spitting in the face of Police & national guardsman i just about lose it !

I'm afraid I may just lose it and that'd be muy malo ..

How in the he!! did we wind up here ? This IS the greatest Country on Earth and these TURDS Don't get it .
Listen when those who escaped from socialist / communist countries like Cuba etc. speak -The Passion & love for this country is unrivaled - They know what it's like to be oppressed and without freedom
Some of my neighborhood liberal White moms who have guilt complexes because they have a good life and want to protest along with BLM & Antifa to show how sympathetic they are .
These are the dangerous enablers of civil disorder & defund the police crap - They better be careful or they'll get what the wish for - but that Snake will turn and bite them

oops - sorry for the rant - I really need to move
