I just purchased & installed a Wilson Combat 3-1/4" GI standard guide rod on my RIA 5" Tactical 2001 Government that came with a FLGR. I also installed a buffer which brings the guide rod spring area down to 3".

After checking, the guide rod I purchased, was for a Commander model but it had a notch for the barrel link as did the FLGR!

The slide racks fine as with the FLGR, feeds & ejects rounds with good clearance but I am still wondering about the length?

What is the length of a GI standard guide Rod? Any problems with this installation that I am missing?

I just measured one that came out of a Colt Gov. Model and it's 1.682.
The original that came out of my Colt Officer's ACP measures .7905 over all.
It's minuscule compared to the standard guide rod.

Indeed, the PDF I attached above was from Browning's original drawings @ 1.75" overall.

Thanks, Pedro, I have corrected my original post to reflect the Commander model. I appreciate all of your comments and help!
