I was doing transportation logistics for several years, got laid off, was a house-husband for the last two...and now I am a Manager at Champs Sports. Basically, I hock $160 Jordans to the local urbanites...........and there are LOTS of them in my store....along with the "urban outdoorsmen" as we call them.

Some of my typical questions I get daily (no, I am not making these up)...

"Do you work here?" Ummmm, yeah. What gave it away...the Champs shirt, pants, nametag, or radio in my ear?
"Can I get yo discount?" Ummmm, no. I value my job more than saving you money.
"How much are deez?" Ummmm, the price is on the tag.
"Is that price out de do?" Ummmm, no. There's this thing called sales tax.
"Y'all be hirin'?" Ummmmm, sorry. No.

My store is in the heart of the city in downtown C-Town. All 3 Managers are crackas. 95% of our customers are not. We have a lot of fun with it. I am not surprised by the things I see on a daily basis.

I wear it to work, lock it up in a locker in my office while I am in-store, then wear it back home. Our private lot is a 1/4 mile walk to the mall (downtown parking....joy). I do keep my Spyderco inside my waistband for what it's worth while working. Company policy is no weapons, but I've got $2mil of product and typically set up cash deposits daily between $5k-10k and lock them in my safe.

Conditional Offer, pending the Chief of Police's approval of the results of my blood test, medical exam, and drug test.
SO just more waiting. I did this application back in February.

If you got through the polygraph, psych, and background, I don't think this would be anything to sweat over. Sucks you have to wait though.

The waiting really does suck, I really want to know soon if I have it or not, so i know to pay for another month of rent here, move back home, or if I will be able to move up to the job. Sucks.

    Broken Down and Retired

Retired from the NYPD as a Lieutenant in the Narcotics Division in 2002. I am currently in charge of security for a Marriott hotel in Manhattan. S boring but it gets me out of the house. Retiring at the age of 40 was just too young to go dead in the water.
