Bottom line up front: this gun is really well made.
Great case on delivery. 3 tripp magazines. Great document set. This is the first PFG made by KRC and the first delivered.
The crew at @KRCndahouse are making a phenomenal pistol that is absolutely on par with a Supergrade or the NHC's I have. @GAKilo was great to deal with and helpful on concerns about being an "early adopter". Classifieds were good to me lately and made it a possibility.
Brief review video:
2-17-24 edit: first 5-600rnds down
I test fired the gun some today after delivery. No malfunctions across multiple types of magazines and arounds.
Some notes:
-exceptionally accurate. (See target pic)
-the 10-8 extractor test was performed 10 times, and passed 10 times
-passes the Jason Burton 360 spin extractor test
-passes the Bill Wilson extractor tension test
-no issues feeding: 3 brands 230 ball, Hornady Critical Duty, Winchester Ranger T 230 +p, Hornady XTP (2 weights), Winchester silver tip, Underwood Extreme Defender, Federal Hydrashock, Sig v crown, Speer gold dot, empty shell casings
some pics
8rnds 7yds standing
Consistent solid primer hits well centered
Barrel fit was inspected for barrel bump and bushing for fitment, among other things. This is critical. The barrel fitment of the 1911 is arguably the single most important part of how the gun is built. I checked to ensure good contact between the bushing and the slide, and between the bushing and the barrel. The barrel was inspected to ensure the lugs contacting the frame was stopping rearward travel (vs the link) and the vertical travel was not stopped before rearward travel. sharpie and lipstick showed proper contact in all the right places at what I consider the right amount for a hard fit fighting gun. The gun also passed my test to ensure the slide stop doesnt get loaded during rearward travel of the slide and barrel.
The barrel fitment and bushing contact on this gun is nothing short of superb.
Lugs unlock and come sufficiently clear of the hood
slide to frame is smooth in travel without perceptible drag but has no horizontal or vertical play.
Trigger broke slightly above 4lbs on a digital gauge which I expect to come down as it gets oiled and used. It is smooth, crisp, clean break, and a short reset. There is no over travel or "rebound" travel past the wall on reset. Great trigger.
The safety engagement and disengagement is crisp and defined with no slop or play in the engaged or disengaged position.
The hand stippling is immaculate and comes in at what I could call a "comfort carry" level of aggressiveness.
My read of this gun is that is is an exceptionally well made example of the 1911 fighting pistol. Im looking forward to shooting and carrying this thing, and think that KRC is worth consideration for anyone in the market looking at other premium brands.
