I can't seem to make up my mind. Here are a couple of sets I'm looking at online, both are pretty expen$ive, but heck, great grips can make the gun.

    #1) Current grips:

#2) unknown species, maybe cocobolo or redwood:

    #3) "exhibition quality" spalted maple:

    #4) Other (please post pic)

Grips are like shoes, get a new pair to go with what your wearing at the moment. :biggrin1:

Honestly,if you have been into 1911's for a while, you will accumulate a bunch of accessories.
Grips are one of those that you should stock up on,as you never know what finish or style of pistol you will own next.

As far as the poll,I didn't participate because YOU should be figuring out want you want, not me.

I think you are adult enough to figure our what you want.

    Good thread though.:thumb:

I agree. It'll be April or later before I Brown'll have any ready and I don't know the price, but I think they would be worth the wait -I just hope they look a lot like that set. The red pair are from a guy on TOS, who I think overpaid a bit for them (think he said $150) and wants $100 plus shipping. They are pretty, but a little too red for my current tastes.
Well, part of it was just to have conversation and see what other folks like. If everybody told me to get Obama grips or something, I wouldn't DO it!
    Thanks for the links!

I like your current ones the best out of those.
    My preferred ones are Alumagrips

Don't think the splatted maple looks all that good on a bright (stainless or nickle) frame. Looks much better on the dark finish frame.

    We trudge on.

Look, you've already bob-tailed the frame, so any attempt to make it look good at this point is just hopeless. :frusty:

I like the look of spalted maple. One of my SP-101s has spalted maple grip inserts.

My next one will be a full size, and probably go through the Valor/Baer/Brown decision all over again. But I do like the looks of the bobtail. And I carried it today, and it wasn't really any worse than my P99. What it added in weight it made up for in thinness. I really want to build an uber nice scoped .22 and another AR too, these 1911s suck a working guy's gun budget DRY! I'm looking at grips that cost as much as a 20" target .22 barrel!
