To my mind the point of diminishing return in the 1911 world is $1500 to $2000 mark, which is about where DW falls. I have 1911s that range from $500 to $4000 and there's a difference fit and finish, but no meaningful difference in performance. In fact, I've had more issues with my Wilson than with my RIA, SA or Kimbers. My DWs and EBs have been perfect in form and function. Really for any 1911 above $1500 all you're buying is bragging rights and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

A few of the guns I've purchased in the last year. Various degrees of used. All in excellent functional condition.

Brown Special Forces two tone gen3, $1400.
Four Hillsdale Baers. $1000 to $1600.
SA TRP Stainless: $950.
Five DW Valors and Specialists: $1000 to $1200.
Dan Wesson Wraith with flush chopped barrel and novak low mount sights: $1200
Colt WCG: $950
Colt Comp Plus: $900
Springfield Pre-Loaded. Blued, checkered front strap. Brazil gun. $550.
Springfield PC9CUS-3 "Trophy Match." $825.

The Brown was pretty but didn't do it for me. Some of the Baers were probably the best guns for the money. None were far behind. The DW Wraith and SA "Trophy Match" had great production gun feature sets. The $550 springfield was a blast to shoot.

At the prices on your list I'd be drawn to an ACW or a WMG.

For me, the best bang for the buck I ever got was this Wilson X Tac with Ryan Wilson high cut grip and fully blended magwell. Price new from Wilson was north of 3500 (don't remember exact price off hand). I got here used from a member for $2000. (It looked brand new when I got it.)

I got this Dan wesson Valor used for about 1200. Then sent it off to Steve for Chen magwell install. Total cost came in under $2000.

My Les Baer Custom Carry is still the pistol I shoot with best accuracy. It cost me about $2000.

I'm starting to wonder why I started spending more than 2K on a pistol

Dang, looks like ACW had another price increase this week. A regular prime is up to $2,995.

I’m assuming most brand are going to follow suit as well. High demand and scarcity of raw materials...this hobby is getting too pricey.
I was going to order a Prime to go along with my Brimstone. I think I'll just skip it and enjoy what l have in my collection of 1911s. My CQB is no slouch for the same price and it's pretty loaded up.

Best all around 1911 value? The least expensive Baer.

Wait...is Volkmann offering semi-custom pistols now? If that price is for one of his full-house, one-off customs, that's not an all-around best value...that's an INSANE value!! A full-house custom at the price point of a semi-custom? Sign ME up!!

I personally think the earlier Dan Wesson Valor/Specialists were the absolute best bang fo your buck. the 2020s though seem to be cheaper

You need to add about $1200 to the price you have listed for a Luke Volkmann. Otherwise I'll be buying TWO!!

My first 1911 ever was my Wilson Combat CQB. I did weeks of research before I settled on the CQB. I had heard the horror stories about 1911's and didn't want to go through that nonsense. So I paid $2k for a new Wilson back in 2006. Since then I have purchased an Ed Brown Executive Carry and decided that was enough fancy 1911s for me.
