Being in the People's Republic I haven't had a chance to see or shoot the NH version but I believe its about $1,000 more than the Baer so my wallet would hope that its a better gun.

That being said, I like Baers for what they are, I like the THR's that I have shot but the fact is Les doesn't like to alter anything or offer many options to his customers on his guns, even something as small as a gold bead front sight. The fact that you can get the NH version in either 9 or 45 and with the gold bead which is my preferred sight puts it ahead. If I was outside of Ca I would ask NH if they would put one of Jardine's rear hook sights on the THR for me since I know they use his sights on other models, would make it pretty close to perfect straight from the factory for me.

I love a Baer for what it is, however, I think Nighthawk’s version is better configured.

I saw Clint on you tube talking about the new Thunder Ranch 1911 from Nighthawk and he kind of slammed Baer for being too tight. Ill try to find the video.

I am a little surprised that no one has mentioned Wilson made around 50(?)TRS models before Les Baer started making them.

I don’t need a gun so tight that I need a crescent wrench to take it apart.
    Definitely doesn’t align with Les’s philosophy:D

People probably got tired of the break in period required with a Les Baer before sending it back to make it run correctly or the square lug cut to a round slide stop pin. :);):);):):o.o:

Some of Les’ recent pistols are slightly looser.

My UTC I purchased new this year is not as tight as my old UTC I purchased used. I can take it down with my hands. The slide stop is still kind of a bitch to put back on.

Yep. The NH TRS look like dogsh*t to me compared to Baer's, however, I don't think many can/would argue that the NH is most likely better built with better parts.

Another + for NH is their version is offered in 9mm, which is very popular right now.

I'm going to be honest. I don't understand why Clint went with a short thumb safety versus the extended thumb safeties that are now commonly found on modern 1911's.

I don't mind the small safety. He uses a teardrop on his personal gun. His personal gun however is blued and does not have the horrible wide spaced serrations and does not have front serrations to double down on the horrid. His trs should have been the colt hawk checkered front and rear and a Heinie ledge rear. I would have bought it immediately.

I’ve put the old style tear drop TS on a few of my carry 1911’s, and don’t have any trouble with them. I like their lower profile A20A600F-533B-4D32-A77A-D7DD1CEFC0ED.jpeg
