Will it hurt it?

This might sound stupid, but I'm asking anyway.
Can or will, using a Mantis laser for dry fire practice hurt a 1911. Firing pin, extractor or other parts, from use without having a case in the gun. I have a 320.... (I know) that I dry fired extensively but they are a completely different animal.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Dry fire wont hurt it.Good to go .......It's dropping a slide repeatedly on an empty chamber that will ruin a sear edge and a good trigger job.
Dry firing .22lr guns is not good as the rimfire firing pin strikes the chamber edge and ruins the firing pin on an empty chamber.

Typically NO with a decent 1911 except perhaps one with MIMM parts. In 1977 I was started with a competition tuned Colt.

I was started by dry firing 10 to 15 minutes a day.

After a bad accident years ago where I didn't touch a pistol for years. Went back to basics to refredh muscle memory and ttigger control.

I do have a Springfield Ronin and the fiting pin stop is probably MIM abd it gets dry fired fairly constantly. It has over 5,000 rounds throuhh it.

If you knew some of the great 1911 competotion shooters (I have). If you were sitting around with Micky Fowler, he dry fired condstantly and Micky was one of the greats years ago. Rob Leatham dry fires

I know dry fire is good, and I was wanting to spend more time doing that, but I also did not want to take a chance on damaging my BDS 9. Dry fire helped me get to where I was with my 320, but it is now tabled as IDPA and other groups have limited their use. So, dry fire with a new gun. Thanks for the input.

If you are using the laser, you insert a laser "cartridge" into the chamber, your firing pin strikes it and a blip of laser light goes out the end of the barrel. Technically it's not really a laser it's an LED, but whatever the case it is the tool you use for Mantis' "Laser Academy". The part of the "cartridge" that your firing pin strikes is made of a firm little disc of rubber.

If you are using the Mantis X tool, which is an accelerometer that tracks the motion of your gun in space, you can use it for dry fire drills or with live ammo. You use a different app with the Mantis X tool.

It can be confusing because the company Mantis makes both apps/tools.

"Mantis Laser Academy" and "MantisX" are the two apps.

Dry firing will not hurt your 1911.

I have the Mantis X, and with the LED cartridge inserted, I assumed that it would not hurt the gun. But I wanted to be sure before I started dry firing repeatedly. The rubber disc in the cartridge does not give much resistance to the fp forward movement in comparison to a primer. So thought I be safe and ask. Thanks again to all who answered my question. I will practice with confidence and be worry free. Uncle Bob, I understand your "no habla "Sig". I tried to learn Glock and only got as far as... "26".
