    Going to keep this one. Thanks all for interest.

    Guys, moving a nice revolver here that I’ve had a while. I’ve never fired it, but I took several pics for condition. Let me know if you need more. It has been polished, not like a mirror, but shinier than factory. I see evidence if wax here and there too.

    66 no dash with a red ramp front and stainless rears. Truth be told, I prefer blued revolvers, but picked this up as I have only ever seen one other 66 snub with stainless rear sights. Usually only see those on early 4 and 6”. Grips are matching, box is badly worn but def usable. No papers or cleaning

    I have a 66-4, no adjustable rear sight, a snubby cousin to yours. I had some range time with it a month or so ago and found it to be a great shooter. Would not consider selling it now. A keeper.

    I’m assuming the serial number on the box matches the gun?

    The stainless steel sights are unusual. Not sure what explains them inasmuch as your revolver doesn't seem to be one of the very early 66 snubs. Maybe they just had some sitting around they wanted to get rid of? Is the gas ring on the yoke or the cylinder? If it's on the cylinder someone might have sent it back to S&W for some work, and perhaps asked for stainless sights. Just speculation of course. Nice snub.

    Agree, it is unusual. I have seen one other like it. I’ll take a look at the yoke when I’m home (in the road now).

    Early in S&W's run of stainless adjustable sight models 66 and 67, stainless rear sight assemblies were used. Shortly thereafter, a switch was made to black ones for better contrast against the stainless front sight. This, in turn, made the less common stainless rear sight examples more sought after by collectors.

    OP, nice example of an uncommon configuration -- GLWS.

    @Au Jus in Bello

    Thank you sir.

    I was just chatting with a member, I have a friend with a factory only fired 66 snub. I think it’s a dash 2, it has a pinned barrel but not a recessed cylinder. SW, I think, just used parts as they went a long back in the day.

    Yes -- would be called a "transitional" example. You find them anytime there's an engineering change; a few batches that mix old and new.
