Would a compensator on the XL be overkill or more awesome?

Don't usually see it in this configuration but when doing a build it was an option.
Afterward did a search and found some images and guess what, I like it, but is it overkill for the XL?

Is it 9mm?
Aaron Cowen seems pretty happy with his ported XL, so I'd consider that a worthwhile option.

I haven't seen a compensated one though, probably because most people don't really want to add another inch to the end of their long slide.

I didn't see "ported" listed during the build process.
Is that an aftermarket adjustment?

Yes, several companies offer porting for Staccatos. DSC, Vulcan, and Monsoon (who did Aarons).

I think a comp'd XL would make for an awkward recoil impulse. Most 9mm comp'd guns use lightweight short slides, as opposed to longer heavier slides.

I’m not a fan of long slides. I have the C2 ‘22 limited that came with the ICE comp. It’s slightly longer than a 5” 1911/2011 and that’s as long as I will own and carry. Anything longer IMO is an overkill regardless of comp.

That would be a bit long and muzzle heavy. Check out the XC for comparison, it's already ported. You can get the XL ported like it, from the guys listed above.
The only reason I would want to go with a compensated barrel that long would be if I was shooting really hot 10mm rounds. Kind of like the Perfect 10 in the post below. On a 9mm I don’t see the advantage unless you’re competing and shooting MAJOR ammo. Even then a shorter gun with more porting is preferable.

As good Addicts we love All of them, just some more than others, so whatever you have is goodness!

Can confirm the XC is one sweet gun. It’s spendy for a production gun but it’s one smooth operator. The P with the ICE comp feels nearly as good.

The P in steel would be a smidge closer, too. I got to handle one when I picked up the P SE. Noticeable difference in heft... they say about 10 oz. I played with the Staccato website configurator a lot and almost ordered the steel. I bet the ICE comp doesn't weigh much. And I can see my future, an XC will be destiny!

there’s one in the classifieds
I’ve looked at it three times
Looks to be a good deal hell I’ve got an xc and I’m still thinking about it

After reading Staccato's warranty is only for the original owner, I am looking for a new item....discounted of course. ;)
Guess I’m an odd duck
I never concern myself about such things

I understand that sentiment. I also think that most guns, Staccato included, are built well enough for anything I’ll do to them. Maybe even 2 forevers. :)
Keep the XL as an XL without an add on comp. It shoots flat enough. Otherwise, get an XC new or used.
