Some of you will remember my posts of a couple months ago about obtaining a Dress Blue Uniform for a 94 year old WWII Marine. I'm happy to report the uniform has been received, impeccably tailored free of charge at a local mens shop, and a 4th Marine Division patch and Buglerers insignia affixed to the jacket. I have yet to see him in his Blues, but just as soon as I can convince him to pose for a picture one will be forthcoming for you all to see. This weekend he will be participating in an Honor Flight to Washinton D.C. Below is the sign my grandson will be greeting him with upon his return home. Again, thanks to all the good folks on this site who offered help and encouragement getting this wish fulfilled.

I'm with SparkyAZ. Our culture has arguably forgotten what it means to sacrifice or even to do without amenities.

My grandfather was a Seabee in WWII, then US Army in Korea and Vietnam.

He went on the Honor Flight in 2010.

Godspeed sir, Godspeed to the veteran, and to our nation.

This makes my heart feel good and brings a tear to my eyes. Glad you were able to do this for this hero.
My Dad was a WWII Army vet who faught in the Pacific Theater. He never talked much about it and I was too young and dumb to ask him about it. On November 3, 1985 at age 75. He left this world to join others of the Greatest Generation who have been waiting for him all those years.
GOD bless all veterans of all conflicts they have faught the keep this country free.

I have written about my experience with a large group of WWII veterans I coincidentally encountered at Baltimore Washington International once. I was so humbled at their pride, yet graciousness. I cannot imagine what they endured. I am forever grateful for their sacrifice. Doc
