New Mossberg 590a1 Retrograde with Phrobis III M9 bayonet.
Now that's something you don't see everyday.
It was a close call between this one and the new Ithaca model 37.
The 8+1 capacity sealed the deal for me.
My wife showed me a pic of a 870 with a box magazine?
And she said she wants one.
That thing looks awesome!
Very cool, but somewhat different from my shotguns.
@JNW, nice. Who did the stock work?
The top one is a Fox 20 restocked with Turkish walnut by a custom stock maker in South Dakota, but I’m not allowed to share his info I had to have a frequent client recommend me, get interviewed by phone and then have him approve my first project when I sent it to him. I made “the list”.
The second gun is a Fox AE 12 gauge with American walnut. The stock was headed up by Ahlman’s in Morristown, MN and then final shaped, finished and checkered by Slim Wells. Slim’s not taking any new clients at present. Finding a stocker who is excellent, timely and doesn’t charge an arm and a leg is quite difficult. I can give you the names of several stock makers who charge $4,000 or more and will take 2-5 years to finish your gun. I don’t use them.
The Fox 20 went from a blank to completely finished in 4 weeks with my dimensions. The second gun I sent him took 5 weeks! I’ve sent him 2 more clients, but had to check with him first if he wanted the work and they both had to be interviewed. I’ve declined giving his info to several people I know who are butt monkeys!
Very classic, I like!
Nice call! Don’t ever recommend butt monkeys if you want to continue doing business with the person.
Didn’t mean to hijack the thread. This does make me want a bayonet for my 870 Police Special! Then I could poke the bad guys eye out, too.
