Hey guys, if TALO or company similar decided to do a 1911 gunsmith edition. What would be your choice??? Something along the lines of the Wiley Clapp, but one of our here 1911 smiths were in charge, and they could spec out the gun however they wanted tol, to give the most useful features for the money? I think this woulod be the most interesting series of guns yet. I personally would like to see a Pete Single edition.Pete has the machine skills for sure, and he also know what maks a tasteful 1911 to boot. I have one of his us and the reliability is amazing. LINES ARE ALL STRAIGHT and it is everything I hoped it would be!You cant just purchase one of his custom guns, but this would give a lot of people a chance to experience his work! That's my 2 centson what would make a killer Talo special eition gun that would sell as fast as they could make them!!!
Anybody else have ideas on wat would make a a killer collectible Gunsmith Gun offered to the public By Talo? or another competitor???

Rob hit it on the head....TALO could do it but they'd screw it up and it would still need to be seen by a Smith for it to be special. It'd get goofy grips and wonky sights and God knows it would have to be mirror silver or painted purple to distinguish it as a special edition. Even Springfield tries to do something cool and f's it up....Look at the emp4 and the MC operator....cool textures on the front strap and they top it off with a checkered mainspring housing??? They suck at doing special stuff.

They could do something cool like a fairly plain Jane 1911 but with really tight fit on the slide and frame a flush extractor counter sunk holes and a flush cut slide stop. A truly sulked in trigger with no mom parts anywhere. A hand fitted barrel would be nice. I think it would be cool to see profane sights. Like a Novak adjustable rear that had a detachable top half so you could select night sights or plain dots and that way when the tritium runs out you could replace just the top half. A front sight that had replaceable inserts so you could go from large gold to tritium in the same way. I am just spot balling but that's something a company like Smith and Wesson could actually do in a Talo edition and I have always wondered why there isn't a sight system like that for the 1911.

I like your ideas with the sight system!

Back in 2013 Talo said they were planning on a 9mm Colt Gold Cup. Then they said it was put off till 2014 and ended up not happening. I would be happy if Colt would take the new Series 70 GCNM and make it in 9mm and 10mm in addition to .45.

I'd want the same thing I've been wanting for a long time - a CCO in 38 Super with an ambi safety and decent sights. Carry cuts would be nice, but not absolutely necessary. Also I'd rather have "chain link" or some similar treatment on the front strap rather than checkering, but again, that's just icing on the cake. If I could get a 38 Super CCO with an ambi safety I'd be in heaven!!

Nice to have dreams. Manufacturers have them, too. They dream of out doing their competitors. Mass production means some buyer(s) is(are) going to want to make changes. That is a good thing. We do not want Chuck, Lou and others to lack nourishment now do we? :)

I guess my dream gun is in the works and has been since January 29th.

The frame work is finished front strap checkering and magwell added.

Internals and replacement parts are in the process now.
Most likely take the rest of the year.
Might be longer but I hope not.

I think most dream guns are custom and are not meant to be mass produced.

I'd like to see Ed Brown provide a 10mm option for all his models, especially the Kobra Carry!
