Ok lets play a game. Tell me what you would buy/build for your perfect duty 1911. This is a booting down doors, mercing hadjis, do bad things to bad people kind of 1911. Reliability and durability are priority.

Rules:
Must have a rail
Must be chambered in .45
Finish should be corrosion resistant since it will get wet
Must be under $3500 total

Tell me what you think and example pics are a bonus.

Ready....go.

I'd probably be leaning towards the STI Tactical DS 4.0, I really like a thicker grip and prefer 4- 4-1/4" barrel. 12rds doesn't hurt either.

Or a colt rail gun and send it off to be customized. I could just buy a semi custom but I like to be different. Lots of wilsons where I work.

Sounds like I made a good choice for my first 1911 since everybody likes the specialist. I would like to order an all black specialist with valor slide, Valkyrie style carry cuts and ball cuts egw monogram bushing, reverse crown, and Stan Chen mag well. Not sure if DW will do the magwell or not.

I believe DW will build one to your specs, within reason. I personally would just get a "normal" Specialist for a duty role. They are quite packed with nice features and are extremely high quality for the price. I love my DW and will buy more when my kidneys heal. I had a monkey one installed and it won't pass the test until the end of my next bottle. Just kidding, it'll take at least 3 more to test it. Haha.

I have a stainless specialist that I carry now but I would like a second pistol that will fill the same role in case I have to send one in for any reason. I guess I could always get an mc operator or something in that price range to back up my specialist. Then I could send my specialist off to get a few things done to it.
