From what I have seen, aesthetic appeal is not a real consideration in the design of any 2011.

 

I still love the look of the Nighthawk TRS comp in smoked nitride. The pic that you posted in the 2011 pic thread of the one you sold was a perfect look to me. In the end, I just couldn’t justify (for my use) the price of the Nighthawk over the XC that I ended up buying. The XC isn’t nearly as sexy, but the extra $2000 that I had left after purchase appealed to my practicality, lol.

 

If the TRS comp was $4k, I'd still choose the XC. With that being said, if I found one with an aggressive grip I may be slightly enticed.

 

I like a clean and simple look and that eliminates 99% of the market for me.

 

I’m with you. Some slide cuts and colored patterns are cool but I don’t known for me if I would grow tired of it long term. Luckily I can build my own stuff the way I want with a bit of help from some friends.

Just a bit if added style but still plain enough for the long haul.

 

I'm not really into the race gun look, but I do like the Nighthawk, which makes me ask why you won't buy another?

I prefer the simpler look on a 2011, such as my STI's and GI's.

 

Aggressive grips or bust with NH, and I just lost interest in them as a company.

 

I think this Infinity that I owned was the coolest looking gun.

 

That one would also be fighting for 1st place on my list along with the smoked nitride Nighthawk. That camo pattern was incredible looking.

 

I think charyn precision has mastered the minimalist design style. Every gun I see from him is just perfect!

 

Although aesthetics play a big role in a lot of things I purchase, when it comes to pistols, I revert back to the adage, "form follows function". If a pistol doesn't do the job I need it to do, I could care less what it looks like.

 

I loved all of my Infinity pistols. I appreciated the looks and attention to detail. They are all accurate shooters. But looks wise I still think TTI Combat Master and the Pit Viper are just perfect in the way they look. Tasteful but they still look like they just want to be shot as fast as possible. They are incredibly soft shooting as well.

saying all this. Charyn has my vote as building the most solid looking 2011s. I love just how bespoke each and every one is and all of them are simple but purposeful looking without being boring looking. The master

 

The Pit and Sand Vipers are both very good looking guns.

I would buy both of them were $5k or less, but I did not feel they were any better (other than looks) than an XC.

 

Since Infinity went away from custom orders, I have not seen anything I would buy personally. They are amazing to look at but just too much for me. I like black guns, but I do have a Sandhawk on order. Thinking about a hard chrome Venom with black grip and controls but would probably end up with an all-black one lol.

 

Very much this. If they ever release a more normal looking gun again I'll be lined up to try and get one.

 

I too am partial to Charyn Precision. I also like the Sparten appearance of Chambers PhatWMG's, the TTI guns, and must say my old Infinity had quite the presence. Oh, and the Staccato XC and Costa Carry Comp are great too.

 

your Charyn is amazing and is the basis of how I am going with mine. The slide serrations are just perfection. And that Infinity is the one that kinda set the standard of just how good an Infinity can look. It served as my inspiration for my build as well. Hate to be a copier but you have good taste sir.

 

I do have to say for looks there is something about the Vulcan 3L3V3N that is really like.

 

There’s something about that ugly thing I like too.

Those Infinities seem to make the coolest looking guns, which is good since they are considered top tier and great shooters. So not a situation of "all show and no go". I really like my simple black Titan because I am a minimalist, but jeez those Infinities are sexy AF.

In pictures, the less-garish Infinity designs look by far the best, to my eyes.

But my Artemis is the most beautiful to me because every time I look at it, I see my range partner, the gun that I shoot the best, that feels right to me, and just perfectly fits what I want out of a 2011.

Same reason my wife is more beautiful to me than any actress or model.

 

Having some good conversations about diminishing returns, reliability and the cost of 2011's got me thinking about aesthetics.

Sand Viper: Boy it's hard to pay $3k+ over an XC but I just love everything about the aesthetics here. It's actually kind of weird because I normally gravitate towards plain, black and simple.

I know I’m probably the odd man out but my Quantico Hi Cap in Hard Chrome is just what a fighting fun should look like.

 

The only way your gun could look any better is if it had a full rail!

 

Well I'm getting my feet wet in the 2011 arena. This appealed to me at many levels. It made me question after the umpteenth review complaining about the grip...you know its too slick. Yeah it Ain't slick. Decided to go the pioneering route on this and it makes me smile. I'm still adjusting to how it handles. The last range session was impressive another 185 down, at about 500 rounds so far. Yes the review by the 1911 Syndicate had me rolling.

 

From the ones I own, I think the NH President (middle) is the best looking one

I too am a big fan of more traditional looking guns and minimalist design. But recently picked up this Alpha American AAF3 and it checks all the boxes for me

 

I'm not a fan of the front serrations that continue on to the frame.

 

I think the wilson SFX9 does a good job modernizing the lines of the classic platform without going too far

 

Its painful to see so many people living your dreams 😅
