Buried Bomars are still cool, and that it’s a real Bomar is even cooler. Getting more and more difficult to find the original sight. The copies are good, and maybe even better sometimes, but the real deal in a Colt slide👍👍

Bad pic but Bomar rib on a 1918 Colt Cassavant bullseye build well over 40yrs ago. Gonna research it later but I believe the rib and his barrel bushing are the only things not original. Not sure if it's in this pic but I did rework a retro hammer so I could never get bit by the hammer bite, I have been laid open and my hands have many scars from work. I can work with a mobilized finger but screw that thumb web up and it's pure hell trying to do something.

LOL I still have one NIB somewhere in one of the safes. Been saving it for 25 years. Reminds me, I need to find it and use it on a build! 😁

My two favorite Colt's, including my EDC, wear them. I've had a lot of copies as well on Baer's and a few other guns. I don't know which is "better", but my EDC has been through some fairly rough use in the last 18+months and finish wear is all that is any different on the sights.

I wouldn't choose adjustable sights for my carry gun if I didn't live in my exact situation. It makes sense that they would be more prone to breakage than most fixed sights, but so far they have held up very well and I didn't know what to truly expect because I had never carried a 1911 with adjustable sights. Now that I have, I like them more than ever.

Love It!! My dad would be so glad to hear this!! The real Bo-Mar Sights still exist and we do have some of those last produced sights. Unfortunately after my Father and Brother‘s passing we chose to shut Bo-Mar down. Mary still is surviving and can correct any misinformation out there about our company! Unfortunately most of the history out there is coming from copycat competitors who I remember meeting several years ago at shot shows etc who were actually hurting our business. Especially internationally with unprotected rights of small business owners.

This is a completely Buried BoMar
No dovetail visible
This was built while worked at a shop in upstate NY and was being taught things by a
Gumpy GS but great guy.
How to completely bury the DT
It was built in 1985 for the new 10mm round prior to the Delta Elites.
I've also fit a 40 S&W bbl to it that I shot in SS division for a couple of years.

It was a 38 super slide that we slightly opened the breech face for the 10mm cartridge.
Magazines were squeezed down colt 45 magazines.
I remember how glad I was a couple fo years later when Colt came out with the DE and the 10mm factory magazines!

The old rib on a 1918 ( it's all Colt too except the grips I changed and a repro hammer I made to never bite me) built for bullseye by Cassavant from NY long ago. Grew up 30 miles away from him but wasn't into pistols and couldn't really own one back then before I left the insanity. My father came down to visit and traded me this for his 29 he gave me because they were starting up the 44 matches again. I like the trade, I'll take Blackhawk over a 29 any day and you or the gun won't be beat up with heavy loads. Linebaugh figured that out.

Until I completely switched over to optics, the Bomar was the only sight I'd have on a 1911 (excluding GCs). I'd still be shooting and carrying a Bomar sighted pistol if my eyes would let me.

I had a couple of original Bomars that had been taking up space in one of my parts drawers when someone here inquired about them. I shipped both to him and I hope he is putting them to good use.
