Like most 1911 addicts I'd like a Colt. I'm not sure the older war era guns are for me tho I understand the pull. In any event I'm toying with getting the Colt mentioned in the title. Thoughts/Feedback?
Thanks!

I'm new to shooting and 1911s but have 9mm Sig 1911 and think its a pretty good shooter. Also have a Glock G45...I said I was new to this, lol. Just looking around I get the feeling that .45ACP and Colt are classic 1911 characteristics, so I'm going to buy one, to shoot. If I was a collector I'm sure I could go broke trying to acquire so many beautiful 1911s. I'm pretty far away from building or changing parts and such. Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated

I haven't had a Sig 1911 yet but everything I hear is they shoot great, and I love shooting P series Sigs. That's a nice, classic Colt model. I found this place online showing them in stock. I have never done business with them, so buyer beware, but maybe someone on here has experience with them.

Seems way too inexpensive but I may check them out. Thanks for the info

As cop_out said, every American gun enthusiast should own a Colt 1911. My favorite, don't care what you nay sayers think

Bought my classic for a custom build, its at NHC , where its been for quite sometime, these are strange times. I know that a couple weeks ago it went out for finish, so any day now, I'm sure

I bought 2 Classics in 45, a 9mm Gold cup and a classic and Gold cup in 38 Super along with a 9mm Competition and a Bright Blue Colt custom . all in the last year

These have proved to be great guns for the money and I love the old school roll marks . Triggers have all been able to be set at 3-3.5 lbs with existing factory parts . I ordered Harrison Ignition kits but saved them for other projects as the stock parts worked well for my purposes.

I did change out recoil springs as they weakened quickly also on the 9mm and 38 supers I installed EGW firing pins that inhibit primer flow and shearing . On the 45s I put in original series 70 firing pins as they come with 80 series pins and extractors .

Beyond that I have shot the heck out of them and they feed everything from Wads to Hardball with 100% reliability and excellent accuracy

I bought a plain Jane Colt Government S70, then 3 months later I saw advertisements for the classic model for the same price. 20 years before I finally pulled the trigger on my first 1911 purchase, and within months Colt comes out with a slightly improved version. Love my Government model, but I'd still like to own a classic as well some day.
