I have seen it mentioned that you can have barrels for both 9mm and 38 super. The appeal of this for me is that I can plink till my heart is content with 9mm and swap barrels to 38 super for carry. I am not as concerned with terminal ballistics as I feel 9mm is adequate but I prefer the increase in reliability from a cartridge that has the aol that the pistol was designed for.

Are there any faults in this line of thinking? Does anything other than mags and barrels need to be swapped (ie springs etc.)? Sorry if this is a noob question.

You will return the gun to the smith, who will fit the barrel. He will check the other parts. I had a Wilson Combat 9/38S and loved it.

There is quite a bit of fmj available. What is the preferred carry round for this caliber? I see that Wilson Combat has a loading that uses the XTP bullet
Underwood Xtreme Defender. I carry it in all calipers.

I should proof read. Caliber snot caliper.

I ran a box through the guns I carry in each caliber. No issues. There is a great youtube vid comparing Defender, Gold Saber and HST. Penetration was amazingly uniform, and the wound channel was huge. I bought 100 projectiles to load but have been too lazy to do so.

For those mot familiar with the bullet, each is milled out of a solid copper stock. Looking head on they look like a Phillips head screw driver. They tumble after entry vs expanding.
