Looking for a compact 1911 with DA /SA Like the CZ Shadow 2 but smaller .

Having trouble finding options - Sig 226 /229 , CZ P-01 ... Must be some others .?

like the Springfield EMP 3 for size etc but wanted a DA First shot ..

Before you flame me for the DA ...It's a choice , mine doesn't have to be yours I get it .

A 1911 is its own thing and will not be a DA/SA. Not trying to flame you, just trying to help you on the terminology. CZ makes a compact version of the the CZ 75. You can get it with a decocker, the cz75 D PCR, if you prefer to carry it decocked. It works much like the Sigs. The DA/SA is becoming a dying breed as so many people would rather have a striker fired pistol. It's a shame as DA/SA is great. I hope you find what you're looking for. Happy Hunting!

Asking for a 1911 with a DA/SA is like asking for a Corvette with a factory pickup bed.

As stated, no “1911” is going to have a DA/SA, that I’m aware of. If you want a DA/SA with 1911-esque controls, the Sig 226/229 is not that. Those Sigs are also huge. The Sig 938 is a small 1911-based firearm, but SA-only (because it operates like a 1911).

Unfortunately, when you get into the smaller sizes, there really aren’t many DA/SA, in any platform. The Sig 239 is smaller than the other P-Series, but not as small as what it seems you’re looking for and it doesn’t offer 1911-like controls. The Sig 224 is a smaller version of the 229. Right size and DA/SA, still not a 1911.

Most small handguns are made in DAO or are striker fired. What doesn’t fit in those categories is single action.

In larger frames, such as the size of the 226/229, the FN FNX has 1911- ish controls. It’s a DA/SA that can be carried “cocked and locked”. Again, it’s huge, compared to what you want.

I love my CZ P-01 (which you mentioned) almost as much as my 1911s. As a matter of fact, I'm wearing my P-01 right now as my normal carry 1911 (a Guardian 45) in in the shop getting new sights.

If you "Cajunize" it, the SA pull of the P-01 will be very light, crisp, and smooth and the DA pull will be relatively light and still crisp and smooth. Out of the box though, it's rarely that good of a trigger. The up side is you can get a Cajunized P-01 for about the same price as a Dan Wesson. You can have Cajun Gun Works do the work or buy the kit and install it yourself (which I did).

I'm afraid this is futile need to rethink things, . I'm going to stick with SA only- since the features I'd want are more akin to 1911 style [ no polymer , grip angle , slim single stack etc. ]

back to original search = between Kimber Micro 9 & Springfield EMP3 big difference in price ?

Go with the EMP if those are your only two options. I like the EMP quite a bit and the 4" Carry(I think they call it "Contour Carry"?) model is very appealing. I never bought one because I always end up going back to Government/Commander 1911's whenever I decide I'm going to reconsider my approach to carrying. Finally I stopped "reconsidering" and just went with 1911 models that suit different carry situations.

Seriously though, did you look into the model that was actually built as what you're asking for, the Colt Double Eagle? I'm not a fan of them, but they really are the exact thing you describe, a SA/DA 1911 and it came in compact versions. I believe they were even in 9mm & .40S&W.

My wife wants one of the Bel-Air Kimber Micro models and yes, she wants it for the color. She packs a SA Range Officer Compact .45 in the diaper bag and her favorite gun for almost 15 years is a Ruger P345, so if she wants something just for the "pretty", well she's probably going to get it.

I hope you find what you're looking for. I believe you are looking at spending a few hundred more dollars if you went with the EMP, even $500 more depending upon the exact model. I also believe that it is money well spent and that the EMP is a fine carry gun. It's easy to tell you what suits me and I can also tell you why, but how a particular gun suits you, the way you carry, your build and the myriad situations you may find yourself in are very personal and subjective. I truly hope you find what suits you.
