Enloe Customs is done working over my gun. He sent me these pics. I will hopefully be able to pick the gun up over the weekend and then shoot it some on Monday.

The whole is more than the sum of its parts. That's certainly true in terms of cost. Will it prove to be the case in actual use?

I like the grip.
The grip is a Springfield Prodigy grip that's been textured by Extreme Shooters:

As noted above, the Girsan plastic is out of spec so some mags won't latch into the gun.

Anyway, note how the Prodigy grip doesn't exactly line up with the Girsan frame near the trigger. If this ends up bothering me, esthetically, I'll probably sand the edges back a bit.

It is a good looking gun I think. Definitely one of a kind now with the C&H plate, Wilson safety and slide stop and the textured Prodigy grip.

I put the mag well off my MAC on here. It is a little bigger than the Taran but it fits better. The front lip on the grip doesn't interface correctly with the TTI part. Of course the MAC mag wells are out of stock right now. I'll have to get one as soon as I can so I can make my MAC whole again.

These adapters might work for anyone wanting to run a bigger light on the Girsan short rail.

One thing I wonder about is the width of the rail slots between the Tisas and Girsan. The Girsan slots are narrow and won't take a 1913 width block. The QVO adapters can probably easily enough be sanded or filed down to fit if need be.

I just finished A.J. Zito's 1911 Driver class. A day of shooting followed by a morning for disassembly and maintenance and then an afternoon of shooting.

I used the Girsan throughout. The gun ran fine until the last little bit of class. By then I think a little dryness/dirtiness caused me to have a couple stove pipes. The gun is sprung for full power JHP so I guess I'm not surprised. I have the original spring but didn't want to step off the line to mess with this stuff since we were almost done.

The Exteme Shooters dragon texture is money. It is an older pattern and not as fancy or as esthetically pleasing as some of the newer stuff but it still gets the job done.

Gun off with Marty for some touch-up. Unbeknownst to me was the fact that somewhere over the weekend the grip safety quit working. I pointed this out to Marty when I was at his shop. He's going to take a look inside and weld and re-cut the internal tang as best he can.

Weird stuff. Not unknown in the 1911 world. Also probably definitely not unknown in the Girsan world.

On sale for $699.99. Still too expensive in my experience.

I'll tell you a funny story about the Witness 2311....

I forget if it's known or not, but Greg Mooney from Cosaint arms had input into the design of the 2311. Before the 2311 ever was out, I was in Greg's shop and he said hey I want to show you something. He unveiled to me the 2311 before it was ever released to the public. Greg told me he had input into the 2311 with the CEO from EAA, however, a majority of his input was shot down because EAA wanted a super stripped down 2011 option for the masses that didn't add cost. In the end, I think Greg is/was supplying grips? (I may have this wrong... It was so long ago). Anyway, evidently EAA should have likely listened to some of Greg's input because the reviews have been neutral to negative. On the flip side, Tisas and Mac seem to have hit a home run with their 2011 version.

One of the problems with mine was the grip. The interior dimensions are too big so some mags don't stay in contact with the mag catch. Other users have reported this issue as well. Maybe EAA or Cosaint or whomever has figured this out by now and has corrected it on newer guns. I fixed mine by swapping the Girsan grip for a Prodigy grip.

As I've said previously, the Girsan is simply priced too high in the market. The Tisas and MAC are priced closely to the Girsan and are, by nearly all accounts, better guns.
