My friend allowed me to shoot his 10mm Dan Wesson Bruin yesterday, and I absolutely loved it. I own a Dan Wesson Specialist myself, in .45 ACP, and while the 10mm does have a tad more recoil than my .45, the difference is only miniscule (to me, that is).

I was pretty impressed by the Bruin overall - it fit in my hands perfectly and was quite accurate too. So, I'm thinking about purchasing one for myself; would love to carry it in my chest holster when I go camping in the woods. But, a couple of extra rounds in the magazine would make me feel a lot safer.

Wilson Combat & a few others do make extended 10 round 1911 magazines, but they're all for .45 ACP. Are there any available for 10mm?

I did see a few videos on YouTube of people loading 10mm rounds in their .45 ACP extended magazines & then using them, but I've also seen comments from people, saying that it didn't work for them.

I'd say you may have the best results from Colt or Tripp mags but, don't expect any 10 round mags to be reliable especially in a production gun, and especially 10mm. Just my opinion along with many other smiths, but everyone is allowed to try and form their own conclusions. Better luck here in 9 round 10mm mags. Colt mags, and DW mags with rounded followers seem to run better, got this info from Rob at ACW and helped with a stubborn 10mm build.

The tripp slightly extended 10 round mags run in everything I own.
The flush fit 10round mags run in the guns I've built and the ramp angles are correct.

If you gun doesn't run with tripp mags call Virgil and he will fix thee gun for you and make sure they run,

I'm going to guess that what you want is a 10mm magazine that uses the same tube length as a ten round 45acp magazine. I have also thought before that would be an interesting option. I think you could have 12-13 rounds of 9mm in such a magazine, 10mm probably one less. I once reached out to Wilson Combat and Nighthawk and asked about such a magazine. I expected a vague non-committal answer, but I got a swift answer from both that they had no plans to make such a magazine. IDK if it's the geometry of the rounds, no desire to break the 10 round magazine threshold, or a belief that there's not enough market for a "high capacity" single stack magazine, but something that seems perfectly reasonable to me is apparently a non-starter.

With respect to 9mm, it's geometry. 9mm Parabellum rounds unfortunately have a very slight taper, so the more rounds you stack in a single stack magazine, the lower the nose goes. 10 rounds seems to be the absolute max before bad stuff happens.

38 Super doesn't have the tapering design flaw of 9mm Parabellum (iirc it only tapers on the inside of the casing and the outside is straight), so that might have a better shot, but there are still limits to single stacks and reliability.

Nighthawk does make a 12 round single stack 1911 in 30 Super Carry, but I've never known anyone who has shot one.

I’m breaking in a Bruin and a Springfield 6” 10 mm. I’m 300 rounds into the 500 target. They love the DW mags 100% of the time. My new Trip did not give 100%. Since the DW mags are made by MetalForm (in my Bruin anyway,) I bought more MetalForm. I’m not going to solve a mag problem if I have such an easy solution. I have a Colt Delta Elite (old new stock) and a Dan Wesson Razorback that are next up. It will be interesting to see what they like.

I shoot 50 rounds in each gun then clean them. Great way to spend retirement.

More to come.
