First Staccato…XC or P Heritage ?

I have a fortunate situation to be able to acquire an unfired XC for much less than retail(locally too!)…. but prior to this situation, I’ve been looking for a fairly priced unmodified P Heritage.

So…. What have you, addicts? Go for the XC or hold your ground and keep looking for that P Heritage?

Just a bit of context: I currently have a P365 Spectre Comp that I carry/range/all the above/etc with. The House Finance Committee(wife) approved a new pistol purchase, and at some point she’ll carry the P365…she’s not too thrilled about carrying but we’re working on it.

Concerns
-I’ve a short frame at 5’5/165, wide shoulders, athletic build - I can conceal pretty well…. I’m 95% sure I can’t stuff an XC in my jeans and be comfortable going about my day.
-If I can’t CCW… it’ll be a home defense or stay in the truck when we go out.
-Not going to be doing competition shooting anytime soon, mostly because of time(2 very young kiddos I’d prefer to spend time with)
-The deal for the XC will pass.(FOMO)

There’s an overwhelming vote for the XC! I guess I see it more as just a fun range toy and less wieldy in a defensive situation from a size perspective.

My assumption is that the Heritage is close to the size of the C and therefore easier to maneuver in vehicle/tight space defensive scenarios, easier to conceal, and also a fun range toy; more of an all-rounder. The XC fills a spot at the opposite end of a CCW spectrum. Is there validity to that thinking? Please correct me if I’m wrong! Maybe I’m overstating the size of the XC, I’ve only ever handled it once - not shot.

Also I have small paws (sz Medium mechanix gloves) if that’s a factor of ownership/day-to-day handling. The new C fits perfectly in my hand and the 4.4P is slightly big but very manageable and not foreign - I was issued a P226 MK25 some years back and the grip size is similar. I can’t reach the mag release without releasing grip but trigger pull is just fine.

Very similar in size.

If you aren't going to compete, get the XC. XC is not competitive Open, so you can't go USPSA, only IDPA. The compensator and lighter recoil spring on the XC are going to give the following advantages over the P:

Less muzzle rise
Less recoil
Faster cycling
Faster return to zero

If you're slow shooting at a single target, there's not much difference. But the faster you shoot, the better the XC becomes over the P.

I don't own any Stacattos (I went Atlas for competition), but most of my range buds have them and I've shot most of them.

I'd go XC, especially if it's as cheap as you're suggesting.. btw how much was that?

have XC here though and I just bought a P (sent off for comp/ inline port combo) so my real reply is get the XC go from there.. if only because how easy they are to sell, after market.. P are also easy to sell but since there are fewer XC on the market, they seem to move faster.

.. but end of day, at 5'10" [secretly 5'9" now to age, accretion and gravity] i can still EDC IWB an XC or any 5" gun, with a Tenicor Malus Sol, and assumptively easier, without light/ holster.

per the pic above, it's just not that much bigger. and OWB/IWB side, it's a non-issue.

so the real reply is that if you like the one, you'll probably end up with the other but both are good for all purposes.

Haven’t pulled the trigger yet - I like to sit on it until my head is resolved, specially for a big purchase! A friend of a friend offered me theirs for $3700. They figure to just hold on to it but offered it to me because of a close connection.

I figure if I do go with the XC, it’ll stay in the truck when we go out… so kinda EDC-ish… lol

Reading what you wrote for a "use case", for me, fwiw since you asked, I'd get neither.

The XC is a fantastic, and relatively pricey, range fun gun. Sure some carry it and or use it for defense roles, but that's a minority of owners. And that is because that isn't the best use case for an XC and there are many better pistols for those roles.

The 4.15" P Heritage is a better fit for your use case. But again, as others have pointed out, its not an ideal fit either for many of us.

The C 4" or C2 are better fits imho if you want a Staccato for your use case. And both will cost a bunch less than a Heritage P or XC. But, if you have your heart set on one or the other of those pistols you mention, despite being poor fits with your use case, then both are certainly good guns and popular choices for many 2011 fans.

The Heritage is 4" like the C2 or C. if P/ XC grip isn't a problem, but you're really looking for an all-arounder, I'd agree w Dave and GO Heritage, for the steel frame.

i had a Heritage and think I was too hasty flipping it, when it wasn't exactly what i wanted.. but the real driver to sell off was the idea that I could get the slightly larger P for $2K, and pull $1000 out of the equation for bullets and that's what I did. :D

but then sent it off for this cut

I have a P and an XC. If you have an opportunity for the XC, DO IT!! My next will be an XL
