That is a good question. I agree their darkness is what made me custom order a few of these from him.

The impression I got from them was no, but don’t hold me to that.
When I decided to order the set for my Prime Elite I emailed them in advance to tell them I was looking for black with no lighter colors in it and they wrote back saying they had some solid black in stock.
They are very receptive to special requests. I asked for a cocobolo set with a decent amount of pattern in it and they sent me a picture of a set of blanks they had that showed the most pattern and so I got to hand pick the ones I got.

Turns out they aren’t stained or dyed!

Looks like that wood takes checkering very well, super clean and crisp on these checkered pairs.

It really does. Absolutely gorgeous wood.
EDIT A closer look at my two sets. The Woodcaliber site says that the wood is very dense. Perhaps that’s what allows it to take to patterns and checkering so well.

My gaboons came in today for my ACW Prime Elite (pictured). High polish with flame maple DD insets. I received an awesome pair from a great Addict as well, yesterday, gaboon with fleur de lis white inlays and skip line checkering, meant for my new GI H.O.S.S. Unfortunately, they don't fit due to the H.O.S.S. having an oversized plunger tube, so I'll alternate those on the ACW.
