I have a very serious question....what makes a Stan Chin magwell so desirable? What great features am I missing out on by not having one?? I have one piece MW's from NH, WC, EB, and GI.....what is so different with Chin MW's??

Good question really, personally I would say on the shooter installed magwells that the difference between Chen and Wilson BP or whomever is smaller and really a matter of personal preference.

On the Chen gunsmith fitted and welded magwell I don't know who else offers a similar option and I can say that the welded Chen magwells that I have on several guns I find are the best in terms of slightly reducing the size and therefore printing, fit and finish & of course function. A number of the tier one smiths now swear by them, take that for what it is worth. For me as a guy who likes having a magwell on my guns I don't know that I would do a build without a chen welded on magwell now.

These fit already beveled mag openings more consistently. In that production guns with beveled mag openings tend to not need to be fitted anywhere. The funnel is larger than most others, the rounded heel helps with concealment. The legs also tend to be longer and mate up to the front base slot better than most as well. For instance Wilson Magwells are always short here. Little to no blending required unless you're OCD. 😉 we are talking a drop in part as well, most other brand can require extensive blending and fitting.

I have one on my 3.5 inch commander length Ultra Carry. I ordered an over-length set of scales, which I fitted tight (minimal gap). I then shaped (hand filed) the legs of the MW to match the curve of the scales on the frame.

I like the quality, rounded heel, and ease of fit.

I have the SI on a couple along with Wilson and Nighthawk. Agree with @Integrity Arms, the SI is more for a production gun. It is a drop in for most.... Well except certain Les Baer's. Works fine on Springfield and Colt especially with some bevel already there. For the OCD impaired it is functional not perfectly blended. There's a seam that can be felt. Its a smooth seam. Peanut M&M's are my favorite. As Stan puts it, the bag is a timing device. By the time you finish it you should be done with the install. 🥜🥜🥜

Adds prestige to lesser guns. Did a search on GB a month ago For Stan Chen. Two 3,000.00 1911’s popped up. Thought about if I really needed two more 1911’s. But when viewed they were highly engraved 1911’s with Stan Chen Magwells.
Deceptive description, wishful thinking, whatever. I viewed the listings. Got my attention.
