Holosun EPS on NHC IOS (shield plate) - anyone?

As the title states, has anyone modified a Night Hawk Custom IOS Shield footprint plate to mount a Holosun EPS or EPS Carry?

Looks like all it would take is to grind off the two rear pegs from the plate and refinish over the raw metal removing them would expose.

Thoughts, comments, experience if you have are appreciated.

I did this recently with a Nighthawk IOS Shield plate. It was for a Holosun 407K, but I believe that has the same footprint as the EPS carry. No issues. 15 minutes with a Dremel. I used a 9903 Tungsten carbide cutter and then spot touch-ups with matte black rust-oleum.

Note that you will probably need to shorten the front pegs as well (don't eliminate them like the rear, just measure with a caliper or eyeball it and shorten them as necessary until the optic sits flush).

He is it after the Dremel but before the paint. My Dremel skills are somewhat wanting, but mission was accomplished.

Thanks, amazing how NHC doesn't realize how behind they are regarding optics options. You would think they would have a 507k/EFS plate already available.

I assume not, but did you have any issues with the irons, i.e. you're still able to co the irons through the 507k?

Yeah - it's incredibly annoying to have to grind down a $150 plate. I don't understand why they don't offer more plate options. Or, better yet, that the optics manufacturers would standardize down to just a couple footprints based on size. I find it just as annoying that Holosun didn't standardize to the Shield mount, which seems better/ more secure. Patent reasons on that end, I expect.

No issues with co-witness. They designed the shield plate differently than their other plates, with the irons rearward rather than forward like the RMR plate. I like the rearward irons better aesthetically and the forwards irons better functionally. Both work fine for me, and I don't have a strong preference one way or the other. The forwards design is less obtrusive visually. The rearwards design is more instinctual for old-school folks and it makes it easier to clean the front face of the optic.

I have the Holosun mounted on my Counselor with a gold bead front. Here is the sight picture next to my President with an RMR plate and a fiber optic front.

Thanks and what screws did you use to attach the 507k to the plate, as the scews in the pic on the NHC site look monstrous.
Good question -- and that's another thing they should standardize, the screws.

I'm glad you reminded me. I actually did use those nighthawk screws because I didn't have any others that fit better, but they are not the right ones. The size of the head itself is actually ok, but they are flathead rather than tapered so they don't seat fully in the holosun, which makes them a little shorter than they should be. They are long enough to hold, and I used blue locktite and they've been fine so far, but I had intended to swap them out at some point and completely forgot about it. I have some spares from a different optic that are tapered and the correct thread but slightly too long and my plan is to cut and rethread those one. I need to get on that. So yeah, you might want to call Nighthawk and ask if they have any that would work. Otherwise you will need to cobble something together.
