I'm looking at VZ Grips in "Ivory" G-10 and wondering how they'll look on a blued Colt Government Model. I'm considering smooth, high polish smooth, and double diamond too.

VZs website doesn't have very good pictures imo and you can't easily enlarge them.

Anyone have pics they can share?

Doesn't have to be VZ (even though I really like their products and own several), if you've found a better option, I'd really like to see it.

So...anyone have pics they can share of their Ivory G-10 on a blued 1911?

Thanks for any assistance.

I like and have used both, I think each serves a slightly different purpose. I like the VZ "ivory" G10 for the look it provides as well as the traction available from the different patterns it can be had in. I prefer a grip that has some measure of abrasiveness, not necessarily brutally coarse but something that provides a measure a traction and the stocks from VZ do a good job at this.

The Boone Trading Co stocks are great for a traditional 'smooth' ivory look, as you can see they go quite well on a polished blue gun. These are mammoth ivory which can be easier to source than elephant ivory.

I have both styles of VZ "Ivory" Micarta G10. I like the Hand Polished set. It doesn't really have a highly polished look to it, more like a sheen. Feels good in the hand and looks good on a gun imo. You can definitely tell it's not ivory though, the weave pattern of whatever G10 is made from is hard to miss. The double diamond set was disappointing. Feels kind of gritty, maybe like 220 or 280 sandpaper. Also the surface picks up and holds dirt. The first pic is the polished set on a blued Gov't Model, second shows the pattern as well as I could get it under crappy lighting and a cellphone camera.
