I only put a magazine of ball ammo through it before I tore it down, cleaned it and oiled it. Those 7rds were on point though. It had been sitting in a safe for nearly 20 years so the old oil had gotten a bit gummy. It needed a bath desperately.

 

Awesome! Two things I particularly desire in one: A Colt WWII Repro and another L.A.V. Custom!!!

 

Unfortunately I don’t think LAV will be making any more.

While mine hasn't had the magic touch of Larry Vickers, it will put 230 grain hardball in nice tight groups just as it came out of the box.

If only I could get Larry to fix up my 63 year old eyes seeing those "bump and a hump" sights. 🤓

 

Trust me, I put a magazine through it when I got it and my eyes dont work as good as they did back in the day. I completely understand. 🤭

 

Love it! Wish I'd picked one up when they came out.

I wouldn’t have been able to keep myself from putting a higher visibility set of sights on it but that’s one fine handgun!

 

I just picked up an ANVIII for a base gun and love the look so much I feel guilty offering it up to the Gods of Ballistic Machining, so I’m currently trying to figure out what I want in a stealth build. All accuracy inside, bone stock outside. I am waffling on a front- and backstrap treatment, though.

Edit: i’m keeping my eyes out for a smith who would be interested in doing this kind of work, building a repro. If anybody has any experience/suggestions, I’d appreciate them. Thanks.

The OP’s pistol speaks to all my sensibilities for sure. Classic old GI looking gun ( I do agree I might want high visibility sights but much prefer the stock A1 otherwise- arched housing and short trigger all day) and none of that beavertail nonsense.
