Fit it well per Kart’s instructions it will stay that way for many 10k’s of rounds.

 

I’ve used them twice and it went fairly well, but those guns haven’t seen a very high round count. If i needed another 45 barrel, I would use one again.

 

If you install it into a pistol with a loose slide/frame fit then the barrel pads will be pushing up on the slide and tightening it up at lockup. I don't know how many rounds it would take to loosen up but I suspect it would be in the thousands. I also suspect it would be noticeably more accurate than the factory barrel.

 

Slide and frame have been Accurailed.

 

I'd call kart and ask them if it will work in your pistol.

 

In my non professional opinion, if your slide and frame have been accurate-railed, and if the barrel has been fit properly, then shoot it and don’t worry about wear. The set up will probably out last you.

 

Accurails pull the slide down on the frame, if the barrel wasn't sent in too it wasn't checked and adjusted. Why do you want to replace it, or is this a build you need a barrel for now? The Kart will be just fine either way.

 

The stock barrel hasn’t been adjusted, just thought I could get a bit more accuracy than the stock Colt barrel without going to a full custom fit barrel.

 

I'd see what she will do now and check the upper and lower lug contact for nice 3 point mating, a barrel bushing from EGW will cure the stock one. If the rear fit isn't great the Kart allows you to get a nicer hood hit also.

Realize that fitting may present a whole different set of problems on an accu rail gun.

I probably should do that. The gun is a ‘70s series Gold Cup. The AccuRails were used to allow an 22 Ace kit to be fit on the.45 frame. The stock .45 barrel and link does assemble ok although the link is not numbered.

 

Another non-pro who has installed a Kart 9mm in an Atlas slide - install want perfectly according to instructions, locks up like a safe and if the gun is rested to fix my issues and my ammo is decent it outshoots me every time. It was recommended to me by a local professional smith and former Olympic pistol shooter and it’s every bit as good as claimed.

 

My 2 cents worth…an Accurailed pistol deserves a well fit barrel. If I were building an Accurailed pistol i would use a gunsmith fit barrel. From reading I also gather Accurails do freqently sit low as previously mentioned. Those fitted lower lugs and link on the EZFit barrel would need to be modified, so you would pay the price of those fitted lugs and link just to modify them. Get a full gs fit barrel.

 

This is an interesting point - and where my non-gunsmith issues shine. I fitted mine to a stock 2011 frame and was able to use the pre-fitted link with no issue; in filing down the upper lug fitting tabs I assumed that one can make up for other tolerances in the lock up system, and it worked great on my particular gun.… I don’t know if there is a tolerance point beyond which that no longer works out well - e.g. if everything else worked out such that a #1 link would be needed, when in the fitting process does that become apparent?
