Looking for some feedback on the multiple laser trainers out there from those that have used them.

I was first looking at the strikeman but after some digging it seems that most people prefer the mantis to the strike man. I was leaning that way and then came across the VNSH system which looks intriguing as well but not much info out there.

So it's pretty much down to the VNSH or the Mantis unless someone can convince me that there's a good reason to go with the strikeman.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

+ for the Mantis X10 for sure. I will admit I have not used the others so they may be better, but the Mantis is solid. We bought ten of them to help build skills in our academy. Instructors can use the app to verify practice sessions and check improvements between range sessions, as well as the obvious detection of bad habits.

I plan to try dry fire mag with the X10 soon to see the results. I have the dry fire mag for Glock, M&P and Sig P320, which allows for multiple dry fires. Unfortunately nothing like that for the 1911 that I am aware of.

I also highly recommend the Mantis blackbeard for ARs. I use it almost daily to work all fundamental drills including cover and concealment and searching/movements. The auto trigger reset is great, and the visible laser requires sight offset practice at CQB distances.

Mantis also has two different VR systems coming out that are promising. Unfortunately the better of the two is going to be priced near $10,000.

I bought it for the dept. I send it to all my officers to get reps and feed back on. Designate a 1911 mag and stick the 1913 rail on it and attach it to the mag. This works if you do not have a rail on the 1911. It works on the rifle and pistols alike. I have a pistol the unit needed to be put on backwards. The app accounts for that. The app lets you store the reps under the different guns. It is dry fire and live fire capable. Worth what we paid.

@robertreed711 one thing that you didn’t mention is what are you looking to get out of it? As others have mentioned they’re other options besides a laser trainer that can net you the same positive result in your shooting.

What are you currently struggling with or what is it that you are looking to improve on? While laser trainers can be a great tool. It may be over kill for what you’re trying to accomplish, some more info would help point you in the right direction.

The laser isn't nearly as important as people think imo. What the Mantis does it extremely precisely tell you what you were doing with the gun relative to your point of aim during your trigger press. If you knew you were aiming at the light switch, it'll tell you where you were going to hit relative to it. You don't need a laser, and the laser is often not perfectly bore-sighted is another issue. I've used the Mantis for years and it was an enormous boon to my dry fire.
