I have never had a Milt Sparks holster and plan on ordering at least two Monday morning. I have always loved TT Gunleather and they have done a great job, recently I have tried Winthrop holsters which are great for the price. I just want to try a different brand.

I know I will order a IWB Versa Max 2 in horsehide Cordovan. But where I am having trouble is what OWB holster I want. I have always done better with wider holsters like the VM2 Or TT Gunleather that looks similar to the VM2. The wider style of holsters for IWB just fit my body style better. The two OWB holsters from Milt Sparks I am looking at are the 55BN with the FBI cant horsehide with shark trim or the CC-AT and finally the I-BAK. I wish these styles had a sweat guard, which might be a deal breaker for me on these and end up going with TT Gunleather.

Thanks for your views and opinions on the OWB that you think I would enjoy.

I know they are an Ohio shop that many of the locals seem to like. I can't comment on the quality though.

I have a 55BN horse and shark. It is a great holster. I use mine for winter carry and range work. The big plus for me is it doesn't have a sweat shield. I always wear a tshirt and find most sweat shields hamper my grip. I also have a TT DDOS it is a well built OWB rig also. I wish TT would relieve a little deeper where my middle finger makes contact under the trigger guard. His holster are hard for me to get a high grip.

Congrats! Did you consider the Criterion for IWB? Similar to the VM2, but optioned a little better IMO. It has the magnetic snaps that are just amazing; even better than I imagined they would be. I'm sure the VM2 will be great as well as I have seen and heard nothing but good reviews of them in the past. Also, for OWB I am very interested in the Axiom for the reasons you mentioned about having a wider-style holster. They work well for me IWB and I like how they disperse the weight along a bigger portion of my belt.

I should be receiving another Criterion by Thursday in Commander size and I am excited as hell to start breaking it in! So far Milt Sparks is my favorite holster-maker. I have handler a TT before for a Glock that I sold to my buddy and it was amazingly well-built as well. The great thing, nowadays, is that there are a lot of great options to choose from. With the information available on the internet we can see great examples of people's work and options and styles that we like. Congrats on your purchase.

Another option from Milt Sparks is the Nexus for IWB. I never really warmed up to IWB carry until about 2 years ago when the Nexus was introduced. I ordered one and it has been my go to holster since I received it. Tried the Criterion but in the end prefer the Nexus. I also have 55BN's for both full-size and Commander size 1911's that used to be my go to holsters, now they are worn occasionally.

I'm going to order two more Milt Sparks holsters - a Summer Special in natural or tan (for a 4.25") and a 60TK in black (full size). I'm also ordering a double mag holder in black. I have a VM2 that I really like. it's nothing fancy but the materials and craftsmanship are just quality. Plus it's a comfortable holster to carry with a full size 1911. That's a huge benefit.
