Since discovering this site, I’ve decided that if I don’t find a way to focus my buying, I’m going to end up with 30 1911’s! (I know that’s an amateur number for some of you!). So I’ve decided to start collecting the pistols of John Moses Browning. I already had a Colt 1911 (made in Oct 1912) and a Colt Woodsman Match Target. Today I picked up a Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless. Next will probably be High Power…then whatever else I can find as they become available.

So I’m on my way!!

I can relate. My gun money is finite so I've focused on my first love, Colt. I have an affinity for the pre 70 series commercial 1911 and Pythons. Except for my WC Supergrade I've sold or traded everything else to pursue nice examples.

So as fate would have it, I couldn't pass up a good deal on a Hi-Power -- so it will be joining the collection soon. It got me thinking, though, to back when I got into shooting. I remember seeing Hi-Powers listed on CDNN but I never really had the need for one. So just for fun I poked around on my computer and found an old catalog from 2004 (back when you had to wait for them to release the quarterly catalog!) and I found this:

I added Nr 4 to my collection to: a Browning Hi-Power. It's a 1990 vintage and it’s practically flawless! I’ll get it out back tomorrow for a trial.
