mine locked up after two cylinders. the locking lug departed the gun. A bad swage as i recall. Of course it had to go back to the mothership. So much for world class reliability. That soured me on them and most uber expensive guns. i can’t find the photos. it was a beautiful revolver though.

 

I’ve had 2 both got sloppy with timing after 1k I wasn’t to impressed with the reputation of how strong they are. While very accurate they were a bit loose.
I’ve recently got to handle an old factory one it’s build quality is of that reputation I know for a fact it’s got over 8k 357 thru it and lock up is incredibly tight.

 

OMG what a shame to hear this ... but I'm glad I did. These have been on my radar for a few years, but not now.

 

Find a classic one you won’t be disappointed that’s what my next big purchase will be.

 

I also had issues with a Beretta Manurhin... when I received, there was a very obvious mar on the otherwise beautiful blued finish. Unacceptable for the amount of money I paid for it. They did make it right by offering to replace it, but left a sour taste in my mouth. The Beretta MR73s are no where close to the legendary reputations these once had, a shame.

 

Mine, bought years ago from an ad in Gun List or Shotgun News, was said to be a tradein from the Vienna PD. Functionally OK, but a lot of holster wear. Twiddling the dual strain screws didn't do much for the trigger pull.

 

I adopted one from Karl awhile back and it's been outstanding so far. It's a pre-Beretta gun

 

Thanks for the input. As much good luck as I’ve had with Beretta, I was a bit hesitant due to the pricing.
I’ll keep my eyes out for a decent surplus I guess.

 

I will say @Joni Lynn her revolver felt better and shot better than the Korth. Probably the nicest revolver I have ever shot.

 

Thanks. I agree with your assessment of those two. The Korth is built on a large frame which is also suitable for 44 caliber like a S&W N frame, while the Manurhin is roughly a S&W K/L frame size. I've found that the K/L size frame guns handle better than the N frame size ones do.

The .44 Mag frame is larger than the 6-shot .357 Mongoose frame. The 8-shot .357 frame may be the same as the .44 frame. The 6-shot Mongoose is close to the Smith L-frame.

Same here! Been eyeing the new Manurhin MR-73. Love the classic MR-73 vibe with modern touches.

 

I just pulled my Korth's out and yes the Mongoose is a little smaller than the 44 but still larger than my S&W L frame guns. Nice guns but I prefer the french revolver for it's size and the wonderful way it works.
